Engine Whine VG

My 89 max has made this superchager/turbo whine for a long time when accelerating and I was wondering what could be the cause of it.

I know most people would want to keep it but I want to make sure nothings going wrong.....

Any ideas what it is

I just recently had the timming belt replaced but it whined im pretty sure before I had the belt replaced so I don't know if it was from that or not.

Power steering sometimes whines when needs oil.
A bad ground in a stereo ESSPETIAlly bose will whine.
A dieing auto tranny while whine.

These things can make you think the engine is whining if you not sure what they sound like.

Check your belts.

Power steering has plenty of fluid new PS hose .
No more bose in my max all pioneer .
The whine winds up with the rpms so I think it may be pointing to the transmission. NOOOOOOOOO BAAADDD......

I hope its not the trans I can't recall if it whines while reved up in park.

I hope it does then I could rule out the trans.

What makes a old trans whine .........?

Thanks

This sounds like a whine suddle to most but I notice it and I just don't want any noise to go unattended to.

One time I put some Prestone Belt dressing on my belts and it helped if not completly removing the sound for some time (not long) But it was a while ago and I cant recall if it got rid of the sound completly or not.

If it is a belt noise the belt is too tight right because if a belt is loose it will squell (sp) right?.....

I didn't put the belts on last it was the nissan mechanic who replaced the belts and water pump so I don't know how tight he put them on.

How much should the belt move when pressed on for a given distance between pulleys?

Sorry for all the Q's

Thanks

WOW I sometimes put my car in neutral when stoping fast so my trans dosen't have to down shift too fast.

I wont do that anymore

I don't want my trans to leave the max and I don't have 2,000 for a rebuild or a used trans.

Can anyone tell me........if a belt that is too tight will whine or not?

Thanks

It can...use your better judgement to adjust it tho. Find a good midpoint between the belt having too much play and it being tight to the point where there is no play.

I recently changed the timing belt on my '92 maxima. I tried to apply the 25lbs of pressure on the belt between the two gears for the cams, but when I had it all back together, it started making that smooth super-charger "type" wine. Belt was way too tight and it was causing the cam towards the front of the motor to rub hard on the cam bearing. Very Not Good! I loosened it up a bit and now it's just fine.

It's definitely a BAD noise, and I recomment not driving your car if it's making that noise. It'll sound cool until you wear through the bearing. Then it's all bad news from there.

i have a 5 speed thats makes that noise i was told it is caused by a spring that controls the valves going bad, not the valve springs but the one that involves timing

A Nissan tech. replaced the timing belt I hope they didn't tighten the belt to much. Did you hear inside the cabin the belt whining at idle or only while accelerating?
