remove the y pipe to get easier access to the carrier bearing bolts. but a pivoting head 1/4" ratchet or breaker bar will do the trick. the investment in my Snap-On TH737 ratchet was WELL worth it for getting to those stubborn guys.

As for engine mounts and stuff, once you remove the two body mounts on the driver's side, you can leave the engine itself alone. the two large engine mounts will support the engine- albeit it will lean to the side a few degrees. nothing enough to cause any damage. support the tranny and unbolt the two mounts attached to it.
then pull out all the bellhousing bolts and separate.
In fact, you don't even have to remove the pass side axle. you can remove the tranny without pulling it. makes it a bit easier to reinstall the tranny as well since it gives you something to aim for with the back of the transmission.

we loosened up all the bolts today and flushed the lines we CANNOT get the 2 bolts on the rear tranny mount lose we rounded 1 side of the inner nut off alittle bit so we just stopped how do we get the damn thing off cant take the mount off because when the tranny goes down it will hit the frame

also.. 6 point sockets and wrenches are your friend now. don't even think about using an open end wrench or a 12pt socket.. the $10 to go buy a 6pt wrench or $5 to buy a socket will be well worth it.

Yeah, never use anything other than a 6 point socket to break bolts loose, also it might help to spray some liquid wrench/pb blaster on the threads of the mount bolts to help loosen the rust..If you do decide to get some 6 point sockets,i suggest getting a higher quality brand of socket like craftsman or cobalt,or even better get snap on..I have noticed of the years that cheap sockets tend to strip bolts just as bad as a using the wrong socket[i.e 12 point] Probably due to low quality metals used in a cheap socket...

bro its not gonna juz pop right out like a peice of cake ur gonna have to either pry it or tug on it real hard to get the passanger side drive shaft out and also it would be alot better if u removed the passanger side drive shaft to get the tranny to come out and go up much easier ive done both auto and manuel tranny drops the passanger side drive shaft has three bolts holding the pasanger side drive shaft in its place the three bolts are not easy to reach and you will have fun

got the 3 bolts out today with 3 different size ratchets (had to go buy a 3 inch mini one to)
now where do i start prying ? or hitting it
save yourself a lot of time and skip removal of the right axle. just pry and pull the tranny away from it, make 100% sure you've removed all the bolts because there's a couple that are tough to see. if all engine/tranny bolts are removed a little prying will separate it pretty easially. for reinstallation be careful and slide it straight onto the axle again. it's a hell of a lot easier and faster than dealing with removal of the axle, plus the input shaft will act as a guide.
so just start prying again? aight... ya all the bolts are out the damn thing swings all over the place when i bring the tranny jack down... just pry the tranny from the engine correct? what about when the tranny hits the frame?
