Problem: Burnt Out Headlight, 04 Max SE

Folks,
I have an 04 Max SE. One of the headlights in front burnt out. This is one of the "main white" headlights (in other words, what provides the majority of light for me when I'm driving).

I was wondering if anyone knew the part number for the bulb that I need. These are just *regular* lights, I do not have Xenons or HIDs.

Also, if anyone knows a store that might carry the bulb, that would be great too.

Thanks!!!

Dealer messed up lamp replacement

I had to replace my halogen headlight bulb, took it to the Nissan dealer in Delray FL and the guy removed it from the engine side, not by removing the bumper. Light is now on crooked. QUESTION: how do you repalce the rear brake light? I can't seem to find how to remove the tail light assmebly. Do I need to remove the rear bumper?

New guy need help too

I was trying to replace my headlight, I saw two bolts but the assembly still wouldn't come out once I removed them, do I really have to take off the front bumper? Is that an easy process??? I don't have rights to start a thread yet guys so sorry for jumping in...

There are 3 bolts holding the tail-light on. Once you remove those, either put some masking tape under the light or just be really careful while wiggling the whole light assembly out. I carelessly took the light out and scratched my bumper a little bit. And to get the bulb out, it's just a twist and pull.

There are 5 bolts in total to remove the whole head-light assembly. Two on top and then two on bottom and one on the side...which would require you to take the bumper off.

You can either take off the 2 front wheels or just wiggle your hands in the wells. There are 2-4 clips that hold the splash shields on. Take those off and then there are 2 10mm or 12mm screws holding the bumper on on both sides. The rest is just clips everywhere. The bottom consists of 5 clips holding the splash guard and then under the hood you have to take off the black thin piece covering the grill and two more clips under that, and then have another person ready to unclip the two side marker lights while you carefully and slowly wiggle the bumper off--you can do so by doing one side at a time by pulling it off by the side and same on other side and just take it off and put it on a capet or something soft so that you do not scratch the paint up.

Now there are 5 12mm bolts holding the head-lamp on. Take those off and then slowly pull the lamp out, while not scratching the fenders, and dis-connect the harness and waa-laa you got it!

bulb price

I found I had a front headlight out today too but didn't feel like taking the assembly off myself. The guy I took it to said the bulb is $54. That seems high because I'm sure I have stock lights and not high definition bulbs. How much should regular bulbs cost?

My local dealership wanted $64 for the bulb .... on ebay they have them for $31-32 each shipped,I haven't order any but it's worth a try.You might as well get two as the theory is running with one bulb always seems to burn the remaining one out in short order .... and you'll always have a spare then !

Funny stuff... I was just gonna post yesterday but was busy with work.

I have a 2006 SE with HID's and about 4,000 miles on it. Driving around town about two weeks ago, I noticed my driver side light is out. I turn the lights off and back on again, and the light comes on. No problems until I am out with customers for dinner the other night and they tell me my light just burned out. Try the turn off/on and it doesnt work any longer.

Long story short, dealer ordered entirely new driver side assembly and installed it yesterday. Just one more item in a long list of problems. I want my Altima back!

The 9012s are somewhat of a new type of halogen bulb. And, yes, they are very expensive. Order the ones off of Ebay. That's what I did. They still don't even offer them in auto part stores which is weird cuz I have an 04 so obviously these bulbs have been out for at least 2 and a half years. Also, you don't have to take the bumper off to change the bulbs, but it's A LOT of wiggling your hands in small places.

You can replace the lamp without removing the bumper. Here's my thread where I describe how to do the change. It's not too hard. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=503109

You might find the 9012 bulb (Nissan part # 26296-9B913) on ebay and save some $$. The dealer here charges $54 for the bulb.

In Denver they wanted $61 for the non-Xenon bulb. The instructions posted by DTinVA are great for chaging the bulb.
