LEDs for dash

Does anyone know what LEDs to use for the dashboard. I am aware that some people offer conversions, but I don't want to pay someone else to install the lights. I just want the LEDs and they won't sell them.

Thanks

words like "some people" and "they" are not necessary. Everyone here knows you are referring to me. If you want to take a stab at it knock yourself out. I'll send you all the led's for the price of the upgrade. Kenny

I meant absolutely no offense Kenny, I was just saying that I couldn't just order the leds from the supplier and wanted to know if anyone could help. Most people would assume it meant you and yes we talked about it but this wasn't a post to slam you. I wanted to know if I could find the LEDs for self installation. I was looking to save money as I realize alot of that cost is labor.

My apoligies

I have no doubt the install is first rate, but I live in Iowa and can't send parts of my car out to be worked on. Not only would the shipping be astronomical but if the parts already out then why don't I just do it myself.

Anyways again, no offense to anyone. I never meant to imply a thing against Kenny or his abilities.

No offense taken my Iowan friend. Just got to be informed on things a little bit when posting on this subject. Shipping (and correct me if I'm wrong californians ) from california overnight was $15.00. The weight of the parts is probably 5-8lbs or so.

Below you will find a link to the LED's you will need to do the upgrade. Anyone you - mixshow are welcome to do it. Its been public information in other threads in the past, so I'm not hiding what LED's I use. There are a few things you do need to know if you are going to attempt this

1. The fact that you have the ability to solder is great but there are many other things you need to know about electrical circuitry in order to perform this upgrade.

2. This is not the first time someone else has tried this modification by me. As a matter of fact just recently we had a discussion with some members on this forum that also belong to another one where a member gave it a go. He was not successful. Unfortunately, the unsuccess was only the beginning of his problems. I won't go into further detail on his drama.

3. The LED's at the link below you will find cost $4.60 a piece. You will need 144 of them to do your entire car. Your math skills will automatically tell you that it cost more to buy the LED's then to pay me to do it. You would be correct. The reason I can offer this upgrade at that price is because I became a direct distributor for the Lumex brand.

4. You must understand that I researched this and tested dozens of LED's for months and months. I too wanted to cut costs which is why I tried going with cheaper LED's, however on our tester they all didn't hold. These were the only ones proven to last. If you are a donating member to this org (which you should be) then do a search for some old posts and you will find a thread to read about the process I went through.

5. I also undertsand that this is a modification that you and many others are interested in, but cost is always the factor. The LED lighting has becaome my specialty and I do all sorts of vehicle's. People send me parts from all over the country. The maxima just happened to be the first. Subsequentlly the maxima and altima are also the cheapest at about half of what I charge for other cars.

I must tell you that out of the 100 (literally) e-mails I get every week on LED upgrades, the Maxima folks are the only ones that consistently beat me up on price. I hope you do it you will absolutely love this modification and be one of only a handful of people who have it. Good Luck --- Kenny

I thought shipping would be alot more for all the pieces and size of the box.

I was a manager of installations for a aftermarket company so I would hope I'm not as stupid as I look when it comes to electronics.

Good to know, if I had used cheaper LED's just to have them crap out I would be *issed

That's because we spend to much money on our cars!!!

So it looks like it might be better for me to just send it to you. I guess I can just swallow that DIY pride.
