How many more miles do you think I have left?

Hello guys,
So tonight I was driving home from my aunts house, when I was getting on the freeway I noticed that my max was at like 3500rpm. I had been on the freeway for maybe 30 seconds but no longer accelerating and I was wondering why o/d had not been engaged when 1 second later I felt it shift (which is not common for me to feel on the freeway).

All was good until I got off and started accelerating again, and I felt my 2-3 shift slip a little bit... The rest of the ride home was normal. I think it was because on the way to and from my aunts house there is a mountain/hill curvy road, and I was behind a camry that was going 40-25mph while I normally go 50-60 on the same road .. So my tranny was shifting up and down constantly as I followed the camry with fluctuating speed.

So am I over reacting? Or do you think something serious is on the way if so how long would you say? I guess I will see how she drives tomorrow on my way to work..

Thanks... oh yea I have 90k not sure if the original owner did any maintenance on the tranny or not But when I changed my radiator in July the fluid looked very good

Not a bad idea to check your tranny fluid...just a thought.

Since the problem occured on hills, I would guess your tranmission filter is slightly clogged. I suggest you put in a bottle of transtune in transmission and then drive around a bit and flush tranmission oil & change filter.

Yes, I'd suggest getting the tranny fluid flushed too. Should be doing it every 30k.

Orly? I have 75k on the clock and my tranny's never been touched, and it still shifts as smooth as my parents' new Lexus. Then again, the previous owner was a 60 year old woman who probably never forced an upshift.

You both should change your fluid, and auto-rx them too

Thanks, but if I'm experiencing problems doesn't that mean I was too late, and not to change the fluid as the tranny is relying on the little metal pieces in the fluid? Everything has seemed normal the past few days now, so maybe I can let this slide...

dont think just because the problem has stopped that all is well. if you dont know when the tranny was last serviced by the last owner, and you havent services it, it can well be past its time. The fluid can look good and still need a change.

change your tranny fluid and replace/fully clean the filter.

The tranny fluid should be changed at 30K, flushed and replaced at 60K and changed again at 90K.

For the guy at 75K, get with the program!

If your car is still under 100k, I wouldn't worry about that issue.

After 200k the mechanics start getting leery about changing the fluid if there's no record of regular changes.

Have you used that product yourself? I have a 97 with over 180k miles. Should I use it? The transmission on my car was flushed regularly and never had a problem.
