Engine

You should have a better idea about the engine than anyone. What kind of maintenance did you do on it? How often did you change the oil? What kind did you use? Same for spark plugs. Some engines with 50K miles have less life in them than ones with 250K. But, all in all, the Maxima engine is excellent - as long as you take care of it, it will take care of you.

there are a bunch a test u can do to determine how good it still is..do a compression and leak down test....have your oils sent to a lab to get it tested...do some common sense things like....does my car blow any smoke at start up or at all (not condensation)....is my gas mileage still good...do i do routine maintance...i mean a dont get me wrong at 200k things are going to need to be replaced...the question is do u want this current motor to nickel and dime you over the next few months or years or would u rather shell out all the cash now for a low milage de-k

I recently tore apart my freinds old '96 motor w/205k and it had been through hell yet the clearance on the rod, crank, and cam bearings were all within spec

Best clue is it starts to burn oil. Unlike the 3.5, the 3.0 is known for burning no oil when its in good shape. When it goes I'm sure you're looking at alot more than 1000-1500 though.
