eclipse install problem

So, I picked up an eclipse cd3403 cheap for $50. I took ithome and took out my old sony and ripped apart the harness and reconnected everything. I plug it into my car and nothing. As far as I could tell, all the colors are supposed to coordinate. I've done a couple installs before and this is the only one that I've run into problems with. Does anyone know if the eclipse harness runs different colors than the 4th gen max? I also didn't connect any of my rca's or antenna. I forgot that sometimes decks wown't turn on without the antenna connected but I'm at work right now. If anyone has any insight to my problem, I'm all ears. Thanks.

The car's harness will not match the aftermarket HU. You need a maxima harness and attach that to the eclipse harness.

No I know. I had a sony in before so I had the sony harness and the maxima harness. I removed the maxima side from the sony and reconnected it to the eclipse one. All of the writing on the maxima harness was unreadable so I couldn't double check if the wires were actually matched up right.

Could I have blown a fuse possibly? Is there another radio fuse under the hood because I checked the one under the steering wheel.

your eclipse headunit doen't have the cable color coding on it? Yeah it will not match the car harness, but you can find the car wiring info easy enough. I can confirm that my eclipse unit did not turn on until the antenna was connected however...

ok, sweet, I was so mad I thought I bought a brick and didn't even remember the antenna thing until I was at work today. I hope it starts up when I get home. Thanks.

you probably blew a fuse. did you have bares wires dangling there for ANY amount of time?

this is assuming you have everything hooked up properly. its color for color from the eclipse harness to a metra maxima harness...

another thing now that i think of it, nissan grabs their ground from the screw that holds the dash together.. you try that?

Its not the antenna alone, that is only really providing a floating ground. You still should ground the HU itself.

Its a nearly 4yr old entry level HU, it shouldnt be too difficult to find anywhere for that price.
