So I replaced my AGX's because I thought they were blown (handling and ride changed, so I made myself believe-must have been the Boston roads growing pot holes).

With them out, I can compress them all (with quite a bit of resistance) but they do not extend on their own. I can pull the rods out to full extend the shocks/struts. Does this mean they are okay?

I was going to send them in for replacement warranty, but I don't want to spend the money on shipping if they just tell me "their fine!"

 

If they dont come back out on their own they are no good.

 

yeah thats what shocks are supposed to do. How long did you have them?

 

You know theyre REALLY fubar'd when the oil comes out when you turn it upside down as well. lol. But yeah, theyre supposed to return up on their own.
This one was on my 240sx when I bought it.. Needless to say, it's time had come.

 

about 75,000 miles/4 years .....guess all 4 are toast.

There was heavy grease build up around the seal, but not as bad as your shock phantom !

 

so what are the recommendations for replacing these struts? Which adjustable struts are the ones to get?
