Cheap wideband for tuning? EU worth it?

00vi is going on soon, and im not about to run untuned for more than a month. I'm still deciding if the EU is worth it, or if i should just get the VAFC-2. EU is MUCH more expensive, but offers a lot more obviously. Opinions? I don't track my car, i just like messing with it. I can find used VAFC2 for like 200-230 shipped on ebay, but EU is like 600 when you factor in the harness and all that.

Regardless of which one i pick, i'll need to get a wideband because i'll be adding more mods soon and i dont want to pay for dyno shop time everytime i add a mod, and i like messing with stuff. What's a CHEAP wideband that i can use to collect data and then tune with the EU/VAFC? I dont want to compromise quality for price, but i dont need anything fancy, just somehting to get readings.

Also if i understand correctly, i'll need to hook up a laptop to my ECU to get the wideband o2 readings?

You don't need to hook up the laptop to the ecu rather to the wideband unit itself. Vafc is good to get you a relative/general air fuel tune but the EU does many more. It can change timing, raise rev limt and launch control just to name a few. I would hold off on the vafc and maybe find a used EU for around $400 on my350z forums.

BTW I do have a WB unit for sale, its relatively simple to use and not too bad in price. PM me if you're interested.

Why must people insist on ' hearing' this or that. Investigate for yourself.

Check the site, things have changed

I meant i 'heard' by digging up some thread on the org from a couple months back.

Didnt get to that thread, thanks. Looks like you went with the PLX 300. If i'm going to use the EU, do you think it would be worth it to get the more expensive PLX over the ZT2(w/o screen)?

Reason I got the PLX is because I didn't get the EU.

Oh i sent you a PM this morning about it, dont know if you got it or not. What i said is i can't afford it right now at this point, maybe in a month. I don't need the screen though! Not sure if you would want to separate that, might be a little hard to sell the screen alone.

I saw that, but thats for the LM-1...the LC-1 doesn't look like it has an actual 'unit' to hook the power wire up to, i think you hook it up to the emanage/dyno itself.

Edit: screw it, i'll just go with the zeitronix

Innovative LC-1 u hook to a laptop to datalog and tune......I dunno about you but I am going to spent an hour on a dyno and get it tuned and leave it until i mod or it needs to be changed so there is no need for me to mess with it all the time....maybe run a few datalogs and go from there...and get a true wideband gauge for constant monitoring......besides I can get it cheap and my tuner has had issues in the past with the Zietronix unit

That's the LM-1. Are you suggesting the LC-1 is crap just because Neal had a problem with the LM-1??? Two different designs.

I have the LC-1. No problems here.

LC-1 and LM-1 are linear. Do your research. Download all the manuals you can for free from Zeitroniz, PLX, and Innovative, read them a couple of times, and make your own conclusions. That's what I did.
