AC Compressor Making Noise
AC Compressor Making Noise
couldn't find anything in the search
my AC compressor seems to be making noise. when the AC is turned off its noisy (sounds like a bad alternator), but once i turn it on its fine
what is it, how much will it cost me to fix it?

car has 149,000 miles on it, i've had it since 70K and its never had a tune-up of any sort. im already gonna have my mechanic fixing that AC problem, what else should i get done, im sure sparkplugs are on that list

your AC noise is the pulley bearing. read this thread carefully...

instruct your mechanic to just replace the bearing. he can do it for $30+labor without taking the compressor off or opening/recharging the refrigerant system (assuming you have no other problems, and your AC work ok).
