Suspension question- Alignment causing tire wear?

My Max is having a bad time with tires. I've bought 2 sets of name brand tires for it in the last 3 years. what's happening is that the inside of the tires are wearing out faster then the rest of the tire. At first I thought it was alignment but having it aligned 2 times already it still wears them uneven. I've checked tire pressure and rotate every 5000 miles.

My thought is this, the car was orgianally owned by my grandma. She didn't drive it all that often so it would sit for months on end only being started but not moved. could something have happend to the springs? could they have worn to where the wheels are constantly tilted?

its possible that the place your going to isnt aligning it properly.this happened to me before i had it alingned at a shop and my new dunlops wore out from the inside shorlty after. what i did was got brand new tires and went to a repitable shop who specializes in alignments. turns out i need a camber kit from Eibach my car is lowered, the kit is only $30 . after this was installed and the car was aligned properly i've been fine no tire ware at all. two years now i just rotate the tires. i dont think springs will make your tires ware out.

Go get the alignment CHECKED at a place that does free checks.

Ask for a printout of the specs.

Post them here and compare them with the "normal" specs, as listed in the sticky thread.

Prosper.

i think you there might be a chance that your suspention parts are bent and or damaged, this is pending the shop knows how to do an alignment and the did not just set the toe and go.

If they did it right and pulled everything within specs then you have something bent there that is causing your alignment to be off while in motion. for an experience tech it would be fairly easy to see.

Do what phenryiv1 said and get it at a free check place, look at the print. if they did the toe and go thing. your total toe should be like like 0.03" or less and your camber/ caster should be off the wall.

also check ur rack and pinion bracket bushings and lower control arm bushing.
If they are worn then, the alignment won't work. They can align the the wheels for you, but once u make a few turns it will screw up again.

on the front end check, for bushings, balljoint, tie rods, etc wear. If everything isn't in acceptable shape, your alignment won't hold for very long.

Sad thing is on the A32 the only thing adjustable from the factory is front toe, rear is completely fixed and front caster/camber aren't changeable. Camber can be nudged in the area of a hundredth of a degree by playing with the strut-to-knuckle bolts, but a camber kit (or plate, even better) is the only real way to adjust our camber.

if he went to a proper shop in the first place they would have done a chek on the front end while aligning the car. they always do this to upsell and see if there are any other probems they can charge you for.

i say get ur alignment done at another place because the one you are going to is doing something wrong

ps. i just aligned my car myself n now it drive great

if your not lowered... it sounds like worn out parts...
Either way... inside tire wear is usually caused by camber... can't adjust on our cars. Unless you have more of a feathering pattern. Than it is a toe problem.

For checking for worn components. When I went to get an alignment done they wouldn't even do it since my control arm bushings were worn. I need to fix this and then get the alignment.

I went to an alignment place and the guy told me that even if I were to install a camber kit, our maximas simply will never have perfect alignment so it really wasn't particularly worth it to buy the kit. Was he wrong?
