Would car running lean delay trans shifting?

I need help very bad. My wife has been driving my car for the past month. The check engine light came on and i had it checked at autozone. It said that I need one of the front o2 sensors and that the left bank was running lean. I finally drove the car a week later and the trans does not shift on time. The rpms go very high then it shifts. Would the car running lean cause this or should I go looking for a shop to rebuild my trans.

Seems more like a tranny slip than a lean condition.

It's not uncommon for shifting problems to be misdiagnosed as trannsmission problems when they are not, last post could very well be a perfect example. A large loss of power will cause an auto trans car to shift erraticly. You need to replace the o2 sensor in question and see if you are still getting a lean condition, then start with changing the trans fluid (I'm assuming you already checked the fluid) and after that having a reputable tranny shop check for proper line pressure etc. Is it late to shift and you need to really force it to upshift by letting off the throttle as much as possible? Also, posting the mileage on your car is key

The car has 155,000 miles on it and i had the trans fluid changed today. You are correct that I have to let off the throttle to get it to change. I am going to change the o2 sensor then if the problem persist take it to a trans shop. About how much should a rebuild cost if it is needed?

yeah I thought that's what it sounded like, that's usually an indication that the 'brake-bands' inside the trans are very worn, mileage is high also, however if it is doing it in all gears it could be a simpler hydraulics problem inside trans, either way do excctly what your planning, change o2 sensor and if problem persists find a good tranny shop, good idea might be to call all of them up and describe car and problem and ask them how much to do a 'line pressure test' find the one that gives the answer that sounds the most knowledgable. Sorry your thread got overtaken here also, this is NOT like the .org and they WILL be banned, hopefully for a long time, glad you caught my post and didn't get discouraged, absolutely ridiculous, I've reported both of there posts

oh, forgot to add, the trans computer gives trouble codes also that can be accessed via the o/d light, they will give fault codes for many hydraulic control problems, however I've never been able to read one, they flash so damn fast and are very hard to read

hey that's cool, was that your dyno chart? I'm actually building a 700hp blown mark8 motor, well '96 cobra motor, same thing except forged crank, different cams, upper-intake. That's cool though, I swear just the other day I was saying to myself "I wonder at what rpm's the additional high-rpm ports open up". looks like 3250, never thought I'd find that out on the .org........

I'm kind of a dyno psychopath/junkie. I have literally hundreds of DJ runfiles.

you happen to have one for a 96-98 mustang cobra that I could compare to the mark8 just for my own curiosity?
