What do you think about this tire? Im looking for some better tires than stock right now. Ive got the 17" option too (no other way to buy an SE, IMO). Any other ideas?

They are good tires and come in 225/50/17 size. But at $182 per tire, they are a bit steep. Unfortunately, they are one of the only tires available in that size so the choice is limited.

I don't know if I inserted that correctly, but Tire Rack has a great seletion of tires. Bump your size up to 235/45/17 and you have a huge selection. I think every manufacturer makes a tire in that size. In this size the price ranges from $120-$240 but you have 23 tires to choose from.

true, but many manufacturers recommend against mounting 235 series tires on the stock 7" rims. Usually the minimum recommended size is 7.5". Many have done it however, without any problems.

Most Nittos have questionable wet weather traction.

You forgot to add a word, UMD_MaxSE:

What tire are you referring to specifically, AznWontonboy? The only tire in size 225/50R17 that I can find on the Nitto web site is the NT-450 Extreme and that's a passenger tire, not an SUV tire.

The Michelin Pilot XGT Z4's (and even V4s) are excellent tires. I was going to get them on my old car but I couldn't quite swing the price. Phenomenal performers and not THAT bad in wet weather...

When I purchased my Maxima I specified the 225/50ZR17 Michelin Pilot XGT Z4 tires. I now have 3000 miles on them and they're great. I think they're better in wet than dry compared to the competition. That doesn't mean they're bad in the dry - you can just get better tires for the dry. If snow is an issue for you I will mention that they worked really great in all types of snow on my Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4. I used BFGoodrich T/A KOs for summers and the Michelins for winter on the 3000GT. I definitly had the right tires for the particular weather with those two sets of tires!
