Front Wheel Bearing Replacement

Ok so I have read the DIY here: http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/707
and I have two new Bearings sitting at home waiting to be installed over spring break,

any suggestions for some ones attempting something like this for the first time?
I have removed the breaks before but that is it.

Also it is necessary to buy new grease seals or can you re-used the old ones?
If not then is there anyone who sells those seals, or is the dealership my best bet?

thanks

Get new grease seals. No point putting in a new bearing and having it quickly destroyed by contamination.

You can remove the spindle, but not the bearings. Take the spindle with the bearings to a shop that has at least a 10-ton press. Those bearings are pressed in GOOD, not easy to do at home even with a press.

OK u need to do this.. remove the knuckle fromt he car.. remove the hub by hitting it witha hammer throught a large socket.. then take all of it ot the dealer and have them press the bearing in for ya... if u take it to nissan they will charge you $47.99 to press it in if u bring them all the parts... dont do it urself cuz ur gonna mess it up.. jsut buy 2 grease seals from www.worldpartexpress.com and a bearing... trust me take it to nissan and have them press it in for ya... words of wisdom...

i heard along while ago this was a pain in the neck repair - to those who have done it, is it? i dont have much muscle and i dont have much experiance, i replaced my radiator and replaced the alternator on my max (alternator about 3 times), i have done some other smaller repairs but its nothing great - do you recomend its easy enough for myself to do it?

Yes. I would recommend dropping the spindle and taking that and your parts to a machine shop. I had mine pulled and pressed for $10. If you are familiar with suspension work or ball-joints/tie-rods should be a breeze.

I WILL say just follow the ABS line into the engine bay and disconnect it there if you have it. The sensor will be rusted to all hell and impossible to remove.

I've done several wheel bearings myself with a press and it is not that bad. ALWAYS use new seals. Carquest for one can get the right ones.

I got both sides pulled and pressed for 35. Since my front end was appart, I also replaced the lower control arm bushings. Went with the urithane ones. I also replaced the sway bar bushings two. then i went with tokico blues and lowered it 1.5 inches. replaced the strut bearings also. replaced the tierod ends. replaced the rack&pinion boots. The front end is so tight it handles like a car half its size. I got carried away i guess.

YES!!! Do not try and remove the ABS sensor...it is a very expensive part (165) and only available at Nissan...I made this mistake once...
