Should I expect better 1/4 from vlsd 01 ae trans?
Ok after my car being down with the tranny ripped out at the shop for almost a month, the nightmare is finally over!
My original search for a vlsd after a week turned up dry. So I told the shop to rebuild. They ordered the parts needed. 1/2 of them got shipped to the wrong address. After they finally received the parts (I had to track them down and recover them) they find out the gears won't fit! So I do a quick search for a vlsd and bang! 01 AE trans for $1050. I pick that up and now I am vlsd equipped. New stock flywheel and new 01 factory clutch. Trans shifts great and the clutch feels fantastic. Nice soft peddle and nice soft smooth shifts.
Now the question is, will I get better launches with this vlsd at the track?
Last year my best and last run was 14.02 @ 101 with a 2.27 '60 time on mazda mil wheels with bfg drag radials on them on my open diff trans spraying 75 shot 1st-2nd-3rd-4th.
Any guesses what I will be able to muster this year when I track her for the first time in April?
I will be using the same mazda mil wheels with the same bfg d/r on them.
Only change to the car will be the fidanza flywheel > New Stock flywheel, Stage 3 clutchmaster clutch (I know, I know.. stupid kids) > 01 oem clutch, and the awesome VLSD 5 spd trans.

Probbaly wont change much. You should be able to get a better launch, and perhaps heat up the slicks equally, i know some people complain with open diffs only 1 wheel spins, therefore 1 slick is nice and hot, and one is cold.
With slicks you should be able to cut a lot better then 2.27 60ft. 2.0 60fts shouldnt be out of the question. Are you spraying out of the hole?
