Who cares if they are DOT approved or not. Cefiros and the new R34 lights all look stock enough to go unnoticed. No cop is ever going to look at your car on the road and know that they are not DOT approved.

Yeah, BUT...

a) if he pulls you over for something else and decides to nitpick while snooping under your hood, he might notice.

b) DOT approved lights will probably have a beam pattern that isn't utter crap, like aftermarket cefiros and R34s.

Well, technically yes. Actually the aiming brackets do. I couldn't quickly find it on the housings themselves. However, it's pretty small and not easy to find at all, if they were in the car I might not be able to find it.

I have had a cop pull me over and give me flak about my tails, saying they are not DOT approved until i got out of the car and pointed at the DOT stamp on the back of them. Cops in Fairfax County are notorious for giving people a hard time.

And then we will all laugh at you for posting the following thread;

"cop towed my car for not cooperating"

If a cop wants to look under your hood, he is going to look under your hood.

No right to look under the hood..."Probable Cause" are the words you need to utter. What is the reason he wants to look under the hood? Because you were driving without a seatbelt or speeding (7mph over speed limit)? You aren't illegally racing..so Wtf?

Back in highschool when I was pulling out of a parking lot. The cop pulled me over, FOR NO REASON. I asked what did I did, he said it was a routine stop "Just Incase." Then he asked to see under the hood, I said "for what reason? There is no Probable Cause since you're just pulling me over for a routine stop." He just stopped for a sec, looked at me, and said "well thanks for your cooperation" and I was on my way. He was looking to bust someone for something and couldn't get any "business"

Trialt,

Just curious, but is your SC 100% in appearance? I know you're running a smaller pulley. Have any guages in the car? So, are you afraid he will pull you over for the headlights, then ask you to pop your hood, and then BAM!, you're busted?

Are you fawking stupid?.. Whens the last time a cop came up and started walking around your car looking for DOT badges and asking you to pop your hood.

I have an RBS13 thats louder than anything you could ever imagine and cops wont ask me to pop my hood.. Or whether my engine is DOT legal.

You've a) gotten lucky or b) are in a place where cops are nice. I've heard of many instances where a cop has asked to pop the hood.

Well I drive a quiet maxima with 16s and safe, stock looking bright lights, I'm not in too much trouble. One of the guys drives a hachi with 13bt swap in it, loud as crap, cop asked him to pop the hood. You'd think he was screwed but when the cop asked what he had done to it he said something about a new radiator (pointing to intercooler) and there was a leak so he had to plug this thing up (wastegate). He was let off...

Plus, I like it here. Lots of dumb hot blondes. Just kidding, but that usually means the girls who are worth a damn are more neglected.

I'm surprised the cop didnt accuse him of having a weed wacker engine under the hood. I absolutely hate rotaries period, unless they're built and thats only awesome because the sound they make when they hit the rev limiter and shoot 6 foot flames. A properaly tuned rotary is something I've never seen, even in formula D. They get close but still rich as hell in the end.

BACK to topic, sry haha.

Brap brap brap. Maybe they're tuned rich intentionally... owners are afraid of blowing triangles all over the crowd.

Anyway another guy got pulled over for his STOCK exhaust on the EVO IX. Not taking it above 3500rpm, not dipping into boost, etc. I love the cops' explanation "no, it's modified, I can tell."
