Paint peeling/detailing info
Ok heres the deal. I bought my car mid January and now that the weather has been getting nicer...ive been trying to keep it clean. As I wash the car I keep noticing more and more little nicks and dings but after all my car is 8 years old.
The door dings bother the hell outta me, but I guess I am just going to have to live with them, only one is pretty bad thats pissing me off the most...but theres no cheap solution.
It looks like the previous owner put a christmas tree on top of the car, and there are some light scratches from what looks like the branches scraping the top of the car. Also two 6 inch scratches on the back passenger door....I am hoping that Meguaris ScratchX or something similar will do the job. I may also consider removing the sunroof wind deflector, and using a scratch remover for the marks that it leaves behind.
There is also a small white scrape on the back bumper, like a shopping cart swiped it, but I think that claybar may fix this one.
What has me really concerned is that the paint is flaking on my front bumper. You can see what I mean from the pic below. It is not a big spot that is flaking....maybe 1cm x 2cm and hasn't seemed to get any bigger since i bought the car (noticed the first week). Just wanted to know if there is a cheap solution...you dont notice it until youre 1 foot away from the car, but it bothers me.
I still haven't done a full detail...but I only plan on washing, waxing, and trying to get the blemishes gone. I am new to detailing cars and I just want to know what i can use to help clean up the car. Thx.

Hard to see that pic. But if your bumper is starting to peel, thats an indication it was repainted without proper preparation and/or improper paint. Strip bumper, prepare properly, repaint color with flex additive.

I did a carfax on my car when I saw the bumper was chipping/flaking in a spot and I found out my car had been in a serious accident, bags blew and everything. I hope thats not your case, but thats what happened to my poor max.

No my car is has a "carfax buyback guarantee" aka no accidents. It think that the previous owner bumped a street sign or pole in a parking lot cause the license plate frame has a little warp on the top corner. Prob just scraped the paint and now its beginning to peel. Its not a huge deal and hasnt gotten bigger since ive gotten the car. Its about the size of a quarter.
If i have time ill post better pics tonight
