Exhaust smell with windows down

Has anyone had this problem? The weather is getting nice here and I like riding with my windows down, but the problem is when I roll my windows down the inside of the car smells like exhaust. I feel as if it is being pulled into the cabin when the windows are down. It has been this way for about a year, and I would really like to get it fixed now. I recently replaced my Y-pipe but that did not change anything. It has new gaskets on the Y-pipe unions. I took it by a shop yesterday to have a hanger welded on and to have them see if they could find an exhaust leak, but they could not find anything. They tried plugging the tail pipe by pushing on the tips with a rag, but they said they were having trouble getting the tips to seal because of the shape (G35 sedan muffler). Has anyone had problems with this? What was the problem? Any help is appreciated.

**oh, I got a can of sea foam, I was going to jack the car up and put some sea foam in to see if I could see smoke coming out any of the joints.

My car smells like exhaust when the windows and sunroof are open only when under WOT at high rpms. During normal driving, you should not smell exhaust fumes but in my maxima and my dad’s old solara, I smelled exhaust fumes when even the sunroof was open during high rpms/WOT.

I have no cat, so I can really smell the exhaust of my car. I dont usually smell it inside till after I drive hard, then it smells for a bit if im at a stop. I dont mind the smell its actually pleasant, until it kills me one day. During driving I dont really smell anything.

This is something that I am smelling only while I am driving so I am assuming the windows being down are creating a vacuum from some where and its sucking exhaust fumes into the cabin...I was hoping some one else has had the same problem and figured out what it is. I have a high flow catco cat on this car, I doubt that would make the inside of my car smell like exhaust though. I have a straight pipe on my other maxima and I do not get an exahust smell while driving.

hmm is it perhaps coming thru the vents? You might have an exhaust leak in the front somewhere if you smell it while driving.
