Oil ABOVE spark plug getting in COIL, cyl 5.

Here's a picture, where's that oil getting in is the question.
The nissan parts guy says i need the whole cover to get the seals on it, anyone know if thats true?
Could this be causing slight misfires at idle from shorting through the oil?

I went to the dealership and they wanted $2700 for new clutch, coils, and 60k tuneup. Expensive!! I didn't expect them to say i need a clutch at 50k, i thought it was ok, but i'm sure the tech knows better, my car has seemed slower...anyway here's the issue and my question...

i changed all my plugs and coils today, royal pain getting to the rear bank. I got to cylinder 5, i believe, located in rear bank, right side, and found oil in there! Can anyone tell me where its coming from? I'm guessing this has happened before to someone. Thanks.

I doubt you need a clutch, but I would be more than happy to verify if it needs replacing, and if it does $150 labor. The oil in the plug is either from a leaking valve-cover seal or cracked valve cover, considering the low miles and the fact that it is plastic my geuss is towards a cracked valve cover, I think others have had them break in the past, maybe that's what he is referring to. What dealer are you going to? They're trying to peel you hard, why are they telling you you need new coils? because of a missfire code? lmao. Anyways, I'll pull your upper intake and replace your rear valve cover for $150 labor as well. Feel free to call my cell, 774-766-7462. Kevin Oh and also, the plugs in your car don't need replacing until 100k, and the fuel filter is in the tank, and you're not auto, I'll whipe down your throttle body and plop in a new air filter for free, all that leaves is replacing the coolant and the m/t fluid, which will have to be replaced if doing a clutch anyways, that dealer is trying to peel you, I'm suprised- if anything they should have told you your brakes are probably almost due.

so its either a cracked valve cover or the spark plug seals, which is more likely? The spark plug seals, do they come with the valve cover gasket?

2003 maxima

every problem is different, i did search and the first thing that came up was this post! ironic. I intend to make a good post out of this like my coil post which people did not like but turned out to be good. If this is a good post then people who search in the future may not have to post. I don't get to post much so when i can i like to interact.

I have another question. I went to the dealership and he said the seals are part of the valve cover so i have to get a valve cover. Does that sound right? I know parts guys don't always know what theyre talking about.

Also, could oil be shorting the coil sometimes giving me a less than smooth idle?

I bet you guys couldn't find anything to help me so much that i wouldn't have to post.

seriously, thats not what this post is about at all

Does anyone know if the valve cover has the seals in it?
Also, could oil be shorting the coil giving me little vibrations at idle?

lord, talk about needing to be spoonfed...did your mom breastfeed you until you were 4 by chance?

Look for a thread in the 5th gen forum started by Epacy.

HINT: it's on page 3

join date doesnt dictates veteran status...the amount of knowledge about maximas and this forum dictate that status. despite his join date, he doesnt know and follow rules so he is a newbie in my book.

i dont want to be a moderator.

you started the other pointless thread...limit your posts to your own thread.

despite your bad attitude, im trying to help you in the other thread because you are finally asking legit questions (even though you didnt need to start a new thread since all the info is already in this thread)

Yet you see a need to butcher the English language?

true, sooner is annoying at times. but with out the .org police, there would be tons of newb useless threads, like intake, spring, gas milage. do your research and learn, and gain some knowledge about your max. instead of getting spoon fed. kids these days have no patience, they want everything right now and right here.

man i can't believe you guys...

that thread is useful, thanks, though i never would have found it. I don't know how you see this as an unworthy post, since there's only one other post of a similar year and its recent. This info is not everywhere for 02-03 which is all that matters(previous years are no help), you just like to think it is. I have pics too and will probably post more as i do the job(i may even post torque specs since i have them), i've created another resource for this problem while y'all just whine, there's too many people on this site so i see why you're like this. You should still treat people better than this and help them, though it has been entertaining.

Well i could tell you one thing if you search and learn at the same time you wont get flamed youll be more respected. just dont turn out like whats his face did asking the same question over and over again it really got annoying and thats what got him banned dont go in the same direction he did. if we give you an answer take it or leave it.
