time to buy a new radiator got a question.

got 128k and radiator on my 01 (auto) maxima starts leaking out the anti-freez. it leaks from the top corners where the gasket seal is. no leak from the bottom. my mechanic said that it cant be fixed. i called dealer got quoted $511 for OEM replacement (what a big time rip off) anyway i found one on www.autopartswarehouse.com for $140 its also OEM replacement. now the question is should i replace the radiator hoses, thermostat and cap while i am having the radiator replaced. and does anyone know how many radiator hoses are there and how to tell if they are going bad and whats the life span on those hoses and radiator cap? thanks.

defenitly replace the hoses at the same time; so you won't have to worry down the road about an anti-freeze coolant leak.

i just checked under the hood and i can only see one large hose attached to engine from the lower left side of the radiator. not sure if thats the only hose i should replace or if there are few?

OC guy: I bought my radiator from the same website and it was the same price. One thing to note it has higher volume, the hight and width are same except the depth. So there is more cooling that the stock radiator. I have had it for the last 6 months and everything is fine..

When I replaced the radiator, I replaced the hoses and thermostat too (it cost $20, OEM from dealer and the gasket another $5) and Nissan Long Life coolant ($20/G).

I bought 1 from there for the same price for my 96 it was aluminum that was a good a** radiator very strong and it was deep. Installed myself took about an hour. It was a Cendyne radiator you cant go wrong with it.

which website are you reffering to? and may i know how many hoses to replace and how much do the hoses cost? because i can only see one hose on left side of the radiator that connected to lower left side of the radiator and runs to left upper side of the engine. i cant find the other hose near the radiator?

Also it might have been just me and my friend but after i put it in there seemed to be a difference in the engine sound and slight difference in the acceleration but it could have been my imagination. They are labled as radiators for cooling the import world and like i said its very durable. The stock radiator is plastic.

i have a feeling all their radiators might be the cendyne unless they switched brands. But the radiator its deep it holds alot more coolant than the stock radiator if you get it youll see what im talking about. As far as the benefits for me ill say it didnt cost me much and it was was way stronger than the factory radiator and keeps your car cooler and running more efficiently thats from personal experience.(and the engine sound and maybe a slight increase in acceleration. ) u decide that 1

You should contact them and ask to make sure u would get a cendyne and to make sure they still stock it that radiator brand and a transmission cooler would be killer. I mean its up to u i had a good experience with radiatorbarn.com.

ya the agent at www.autopartwarehouse.com mentioned 2 hoses the one runs to thermostat and other one runs to water pump. upper and lower. i ordered both of them cost me $33 and thermostat and gasket cost me $17 all OEM parts. do i need anything else beside radiator hoses, thermostat/gasket? its a great idea to replace all these parts so i dont have to worry about them going bad in future. thanks for the good advise.
