Car is burning oil like CRAZY!!! Mileage is 54k - Nissan did oil change at 53,125

I ended up getting an oil change from Nissan when I had to pick up a new CPS sensor last month. I did NOT make the oil burning problem known to them at the time, it was simply time for new oil so I figured I would have it done from there.

I checked my level today was it was VERY LOW! extremely low and my mileage is only 54,200...its only been around 1000 miles since the oil change. If I show them the reciept that I got an oil change done at 53,125 and now the level is very low, will I get a new engine w/o them running any tests? That in itself is a test.

The engine warranty is up to 60k correct?

another question: when they were doing the oil change, they recommended that I get a new fan belt b/c it was cracked. So I got it done. IF I need a new engine, will they reimburse me for the belt? B/c it wasn't even 1000k miles ago!

Anyone have any advice on how I should approach the dealership tomorrow? thanks guys

I also checked my muffler and I have a lot of carbon build up...

Will the dealership give me crap bout having a JWT popcharger and Cattman catback?

anyone? I just wanna know how to approach the dealership tomorrow. Most likely they will tell me to leave the car overnight so they can check the level in the morning for a more accurate read correct?

Just do it yourself and find out. All dealers are different, and nobody can tell you what they're going to say. You're still under warranty so you shouldn't have problems, and no they will not blame it on an intake...

With so much money on the table, why do not you remove your upgrades (where possible). If I were you, I would not take the risk.

As you are within 5 years/60K warranty period, this should not be a problem - the only thing that *may* go against you are the upgrades if they can link it back to the problem.

Good luck, but i don't think you're going to get a new engine right off the bat...

They'll test it, probably redo the oil change and have you run for a little bit longer. Most likely they will try to keep putting you off til you're past 60,000

Did you check the level when you got it back (before you noticed it was low)?

It's possible they didn't refill the oil to the proper level. Hard to do at the dealership where the hose measures off the proper amount, but still possible. Top it off at the dealer so they are aware and keep an eye on the level.

dropped the car off at the dealer..waiting for them to call me back. he said I may need to furnish previous records of oil changes and I have only done 2 oil changes myself so I spoke to the previous owner and he said he will send them to me if need be....Im just hoping for the best

oil level after the oil change was perfect

...I wonder whats taking so long. Its been almost 7hrs and nothing yet. I called and the lady said its not ready yet but she didnt know what was even being done....

I didnt know it takes 7 hrs to do a diagnostic and confirm the car is losing oil

It's Nissan. I'm surprised they haven't lost the car or sold it to anyone by mistake yet.

It doesn't take long. Chances are that they just haven't started yet....

i'd totally get those 1K miles BEFORE july... i wouldnt leave anything to chances,,,

looks like they are trying to screw me out of my warranty since they know it will be up in another 2 1/2 months

Just be cool with them about it, if you start getting edgy with them right off the bat then they're less likely to work with you, its just human nature. I think all you really need to do is get your mileage in and take it back to them, make them document the problem and make sure you have a copy of the paperwork. The next thing they'll probably want to do is a leakdown/compression test to see if you have ring/wall issues. Certainly if you’re burning that much oil they'll find something. Just make sure you get a copy of them admitting there's a problem and make sure you see the results if they say there isn't one.

Sooner seemed to have the problem that he changed his own oil twice and couldn't produce the receipts for his changes so they won't replace his failing motor. I'd say once you get your tests back make sure you have your receipts ready to go.

Also, is there a way to extend the warranty?
