removing the refractor in the fog light.. .. ..

is this even a good idea? this might be kind of a noob question, but i've noticed a lot new cars like my moms don't have refractors and have hella brighter fogs. so i was wondering if there was a way to take it out, obviously you would have to take the housing apart and cut it out. i was just wondering if anyone had ever done it or if it's jst something i should stay away from. thanks

Search for my write-up. Probably only info on this around.

They get brighter but it's not night and day.

fr33way's write up is good. You'll be blinding people tho. The point that your mom has a newer car should be a hint why they are so much brighter.

mind to explain how. they are that same bulb which run the same wattage regardless of which car or which year of car you put it in. the only difference is her fogs are bigger and have no refracrtor. i dont see how the year of the car makes the bulbs brighter.

and i'm still confused. fr33way says it's not day and night and Cdg2125 says it will be blinding ppl, so which is it? i'm going to search for fr33way's write up now.. .. ..

At night....think about it. You're getting rid of the part of the fog that helps focus the light. It will not be brighter but it is more blinding to people. I didn't say they are brighter because of the bulbs. I meant its a new car and it's designed differently and the lights are usually better.
