RSX seat install, washer fluid relocation and

well heres some pics not the best quality of my RSX seat install . only drivers in so far thats why carpets out much welding to be done for the passenger side.

i literally have rsx mount points now so i can use any stock or aftermarket RSX seat

also 98seblackmax gave me the idea to relocate my washer fluid resovoir and relocate the relay box by the PS resovoir.

the relay box being moved to the drivers tower saves weight and amount of energy needed in the wires.
the washer is moved to the trunk for weight distribution and cleaning the engine bay out.this is shown in the pics also.

got some good ideas and followed through the seat thing ive wanted to do for a few years once the other seats in ill get some vid of the interior with the carpet in . and some full throttle runs

Just curious, but why didn't you just drill into the original bracket? Granted, I know that our four bolts on the sheet metal of the floor aren't exactly all that safe, but wouldn't it have been much easier?

cool. Did you always have black interior? I'm looking into some seats myself but having beige sucks for aftermarket seats.

What's the weight difference of the seats?

ive always had the black interior.

as for the weights the stock 96 cloth manuel seats are around 39-42 lbs a piece driver being the hevier of the two.

and the rsx leather manuel seats with the airbags taken out, seat sensors ,and ecu in seat and bose amp under seat and last pretensioner seat clips. with all this stuff removed it took over 10lbs off both total.
also keep in mind rsx seats are much stronger than my stock 96 seats.

rsx driver seat 46 lbs 4oz
rsx passenger seat 40 lbs 12 oz

iam fine with this they feel so solid and suportive compared to the stock max seats . and the seating position feels like a sports car now not a family car.

and like i said i can use any rsx aftermarket seat so when i race i will be bolting in a race seat and taking out the pass for racing.

well your doing something that alot of people want to do... get rid of the stock seats.

Lets face it, the 4th gen Maxima's target market was a middle-aged male... our seats (IMO) are made for a slightly overweight man lookin for comfort. I think the seats are comfy, but they offer no support for the driving that some of the enthusiasts in here put their cars through.

The bracket mounting points are key to the aftermarket. I'm sure you can get a custom mount but asking the chair manufacturer to do such a thing will cost $$.

Interested to see some of the welding pics.

yeah iam not sure what your saying here or to whom but these rsx seats will unbolt and bolt in just like a stock rsx and the rsx has great stock seats and aftermarket avaliable.

I agree. the RSX seats are so sweet. Id trade in my 350z seats for them anytime, Those or the S2k's.

RSX seats hold you in well and look great, but IIRC they're a bit lacking when it comes to comfort...

The Maxima is not a sports car. It's a sporty sedan. Personally I wouldn't put racing seats in it, but I'd consider some comfy sporty seats, which is more than I can say for the stockers...

nice pictures! I think this should be included on the How-To stickies. There's enough info on here to be able to take the seats and explain it to a welder what needs to be done and show the person the pictures. Dont really NEED a step-by-step guide, as 98% of people here dont know how/ dont have a welder themselves. Awesome work chris!
