I think my TPS is shot

I have a CEL for TPS and 02 07 (which is undefined). Just wondering if the TPS causes the rpms of the motor to fluctuate? no matter what gear I'm in, if I'm like at 2k rpms and step on the gas pedal the rpms shoot up 500 and drop back down to like 2200 while my foot is still on the gas. even happens at WOT

so is that what happens with a bad TPS?

thanks!

Put up a WTB thread on the Classifieds section, you'd probably get one way cheaper than a new one.

Could just as well be the MAF from your description, except for the code! TPS are prone to wear out at one place on the track, because the throttle spends most of its time there. When it gets worn you get fluctuating readings which confuses the computer. A shot of WD-40 into the innards often helps.

innards of what? the TPS?
my car runs, starts, and idles fine.
i unbolted the TPS today just so it will be easier to replace.
I didn't really spend too much time adjusting it once I retightend the bolts, but the problem is definitely worse now. i just have to wait to get a new TPS
