k sport springs vs. s. techs

I'm thinking about ditching my s. techs for some k sport springs, plus I'd like my rear end to be a bit lower, any input would be great

edit: I need info on the ride, spring rate differences, etc...

not many people comment on the ksport springs. I thought about pairing them with illuminas but no one has said anything about them. Try talking to ksport and see if they can give you some info on them and report back cause I'd like to know.

I've got illuminas too, I'll give them a call sometime soon

they've got a maxima dropped on their spring on their website and it looks great, so that's why I was wondering

the drop is K sports 2.2/2.0, s.techs 2.2/1.8

Take the K Sports. People said they would be crap but they weren't. The ride feels like stock and its not all bouncy. If you get them you will love the look. They look great when you first put them on and when they begin to set in they look even better. Buy them its well worth it.

I'd love to get coil-overs but don't have the money, plus I want more than a 2" drop, so what would you recommend?

b!tch to install I was told. GC's would be nice if they didn't have that install issues. Maybe it's not a big problem like I was told.

hmmm, ground controls seem cool, how exactly do they work as far as mounting and installation goes? ride quality compared to drop, does it stay the same, just wondering

they're GC's so you can control the drop on them. There is something that you have to bang out of the way to get the GC's to fit I was told. Not sure what it is exactly or if it messes up changing things back to normal after. I didn't look much into it before.

lack of money+maxima+2" drop= no way no how. we dont have any travel with stock struts and every off the shelf spring is too soft for the drop they give. eibach springs are the best over all, but apparently not low enough for you. ksports and stechs are on the bump stops when parked so you may as well not even have springs. The maxima community cant grasp this issue, that and no one wants to spend the money in the correct areas.

The best way to go (relatively) cheaply is shortened konis up front, your choice of adjustable rear strut, your choice of springs (progress is the lowest id get), and possibly long travel rear mounts.

I've got illuminas and s.techs right now, they aren't that bad, but I was thinking about switching to new springs or coil-overs, I just don't have a ton of cash to spend

Guys, do yourselves a favor and get full coilovers. I've had so many suspension setups in my car it is rediculous. It would have been cheaper for me to start entirely on coilovers. My previous setups include.

-Eibach Pro Kit with Tokico Blues (Blues blew in a month)
-Eibach Pro Kit with KYB AGX (harsh ride, not much of a drop)
-Tein S Tech with KYB AGX (Great look, crappy ride)
-Ground Control with KYB AGX (Great look, crappy ride, and harsher than a mother) Felt like my car was falling apart with the slightest bump.
-Tein Basic Damper (Superb handling and comfy, absorbs bumps and it doesn't send a Jolt to the entire car every bump I hit)

I'd recommend waiting, unless you want to look like a bumpstop-riding ricer who has to replace your blown struts in 6 months. Even Illuminas won't take that drop for long, and they won't be warrantied.

s. techs are not favorites on this site. k-sports are cheaper and give you an extra 0.2" drop on the back. both springs will give you 2.2" on the front.

S Techs are favored for the aggressive look and the huge drop. The ride like sh@t and you will feel every bump in the road. If you want to feel a hairline crack in the road, I would say go for it. I've never had the K-Sports but assuming that they are very similar. Most people were complaining about the Sprint Springs as well. Do yourself a favor and just wait until you can afford true coilovers. Like I said I went through 4 different set ups before finally buying the Tein Basics Coilovers and will never buy lower springs again.
