Clearance Light Issue: Dim Setting Only

Has anyone had the problem where their clearance lights don't light "up" when they turn their signals on? Mine is always on the dim setting and I tried changing the bulb and looking at the connections. Everything appears to be fine

its because your car is a 98. The only fourth gens that birghten on the corner lights during a turn are the 95-96 maxes. There is a writeup I think to make it work, but I dont know where it is. But as far as I am concerned, your car is acting correctly.

If there is only one setting, why would the bulb be a 1157, not a 1156?

I think nissan simply got lazy and never changed the bulb over to an 1156. Mine is the same way. Mine has 1157's in there but only one filament acutally gets power. Strange I know, but true.

just be careful because when you make them brighter all the time, the lenses will crack. Mine did and I was forced to go to the dim mode again. But hey, if you change to an amber bulb, you wont have the ugly brown/dim bulb anymore. OR you could find out how to make them work like the 95-96 so when your turn signals gon on they get brighter and get dim again after the turn is completed

Damn.... Now I'm going to be paranoid about them cracking... Thanks for the heads-up! I'll def change them back cuz I'd rather not deal with cracked lenses down the road.... Already ahead of you on the ambers. Much better looking than the clears... Having them turn bright with the signal made me question this in the first place. I liked that about my 3rd gen and was stumped when it didn't do it on my 98... Oh well, I still love my Max anyways...
