leather door pillars

Hey guys. My uncle wrecked his 96 max so I went shopping! Grab the headrest, armrest, window switches, and leather door pillars. But I started to take the carpet off of my car door to insert the leather pillars and noticed that my car does not have the slits that the metal clips on the pillars insert into. Did you guys that did this mod just glue the pillars on? If so what kind of glue did you use?

Poke your own holes and install the proper way.

You have to take off the door panel and bend the tabs from the back to secure it.
