I was coming home from work and saw a weird looking car in the distance. I was like what is that a prelude???so I speed up. It was a 2002 RSX-type"s". I drove on theside of it and it took off! I was like im not having this...I droped it into 3rd and floored it. It took me all of 10 seconds to catch up and pass him. My friend was like OMG!!! I think 1997+ type"r"s give me more of a race and these type"s"s have more horsepower and a 6-speed.Is there something im not getting? Im tempted to go and test drive one so I can make my own judgement. Anyways you shouldn't have a problem beating them if you race them. Good-Luck

good kill. I might not be the norm for that car though. We'll see as more stories roll in.

WTF??? we will see what happends with future run-ins...I'll bet the guy has no idea he needs to rev that motor to 15k rpm to get going.

I agree with GXE, since the car is new I think it will be a few more miles before that guy takes it up to redline and really pushes the car to see what it can do.

I've been reading the thread in the general max forum about the RSX... it does not look like people are too impressed with it. Is it just marketing hype? Or is it because people have to know how to use a VTEC?

Car and Driver: 0-60 in 6.1 and the quarter in 14.8@95

Accura stated C&D: 0-60,6.7......1/4, 15.5 @90 mph

sport compact car: 0-60 in 7.1 sec

Oh God... and you're in New York too... Well, I suppose I was bound to find someone else on the org with the same rims. They're very cool looking rims.

I had Ultima Performance do my drop. They did a great job and did the wheel align for me too for a good price and in half a day.

I messed with a RSX on a Test Drive, but I never pushed, just a few revs, letting the potential owner know, that Maximas have some potential to shame a 2 door econobox on steriods.
Overall I see Maxima.org members growing into progressively higher speeds, as mods become available, and everyone in this community brings ideas to the table, everyone helps each other out, we will be heard...we will be seen...we will kick Honda A$$~!

It took you 10 seconds?

10 seconds is a long frickin time! Anyway, I doubt the guy was breaking it in, most of those ricers think droping the clutch pedal at 3 grand is an expedited way to break in a new clutch. They think they are exceptions to every basic rule of mechanics. That car is marketed toward idiots for the most part so I expect nothing less than ignorant behavior.

Plus...

Yes I was looking at the RSX to replace my wifes Cavaliar because, yes even I think this, she thinks the RSX looks like a Cavaliar. But when I looked at the pricing, ahem 20K+ for a small 2 door...NOT!

I don't care about after market stuff, she won't hear of that. Great idea in theory by Acura, but short on the follow through. This is all based on reading. No physical experience at all. They put a 'S' on it to sucker in the non-educated thinking they are getting a great performer!

On an OT note: I drove another RSX-S...I had driven my friends ITR, then w/the salesperson in the car of the RSX-S, and my friend behind me in his ITR we pulled to a light, at first the salesman said nice car, and starts smiling. I smile back as I see my friend signalling. I look forward, and for 4 blocks to the middle of 4th I got beat by a 98 ITR in championship white, bone stock. I'm not a sucker of a stick driver, ask anyone in MPNY, I do not drive like a grandma. I was beat by a good car length. The VTEC doesn't engage like the original ITR, with a surge, the RSX S just continues but you hear it, but the way the ITR pulled away on the VTEC cams, and given I had to shift like a maniac to hard chirp 1-2 and 2-3. I never let go of the gas, and I had got a great launch @ 4200.
I got yelled at by the salesman after that fiasco, and was asked not to do that again. I complained to the salesman, that we just got beat by a bone stock 98 ITR. This car claims 0-60 in 6.1. The ITR has been timed in the 1/4 @ 15.1 bone stock, and I didn't even come close, the VTEC engagement sucked, and that Honda needs alot to work out to get the ITR spirit back. As we went back to the Acura Dealer, in front is building, that echoes sounds. As my friend was all hyped he beat a RSX S, he dumps the clutch @ almost 6000rpm, and peels down the block hard chirpin 1-2. Anyone in that area was scared for their lives.
Silver Star Acura: 7/19
Time: 7:00pm-7:20pm.
If any Max owner was around there, you heard it.

Yes, if you caught up with him in "all of 10 seconds", then he simply spanked you, declared victory, and just stopped racing (if he was actually racing).

You are drawing conclusion from a race when you have a passanger in the car??? (not to mention that the car wasn't broken in?)

I got yelled at by the salesman after that fiasco, and was asked not to do that again.
Yeah, trashing a brand new car that someone is going to spend his hard-earned money on won't get you any compliments. And people wonder why car salesmen sometimes refuse test drives to people who look and act like punks.

I read about this car in The Automotive News, which is a trade magazine and they said that the car was no match for the ITRs. I guess a trade mag does not hype them up like auto enthusiast mags. It didn't sound like anything spectacular, perhaps a step up from the current top of the line Integra which I don't think is anything special.
