is a strut bar, JUST a strut bar?
or should you get a good quality one? for instance i found these on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STRUT...spagenameZWDVW
hell, i have no money and that is cheap enough to buy. however will i regret buying a cheap strut bar? or is it just that, a piece of metal to tighten up the front end?
what are your opinions on this?

i got a dirt cheap one for the civic (well it was free i just had to pick it up in fort worth) and the difference was amazing.
thanks for the help guys, looks like ill pick one up.

oh and how hard is the install on one? the civic one i ghetto rigged it so ive never done one with a legit install.
this was the easiest thing i have installed on my car
u open ur hood
remove the 3 nuts on top of each strut
place strut bar in bolts
tighten the bar to the firmest position
put back the nuts onto the strut
close hood and test drive<< my fave step

thanks for the help guys. i really appreciate it!
well i just bought it, for $25. not to bad.
my only remaining question is which way does it go on? im sure this thing is not gonna have directions on how to put it on. and i did put the one on my civic backwards. :x
oh and ill post pictures of it with my dirty engine bay too.

Yeah the only thing that really pisses me off is this.. I found out about these after I grabbed one off eBay. I'm still gonna get that fawkin' gunmetal one, man I cannot even tell you how frustrated I was haha.

$49.99

oooo gunmetal.
why do you want one of them SO bad? (i think im just a little confused on why you are so mad)
oh and i think i might spray mine black before i put it on. i think that might look a little better then chrome.

Well the aesthetic side is that it looks 10x as good and is branded.. The other part is it looks a bit stronger/ more rigid than the generic types.
Negligible? Of course.. But for a little more money I think it's more worth it.

A strut bar is a strut bar. I went from an eBay one to a Stillen one and felt no real difference. I did feel a difference between having a strut bar to not having one at all.
Only problem I had with an eBay one was that it got really close to my AC line and it touched my EVAP.

Cheap adjustable strut bars dont do jack crap and are just for looks. But if you're just daily driving this car it doesnt really matter. If you wanted a good strut bar get a solid non adjustable bar, they dont flex.

IMO the brace itself on any car would just signal to me maybe a few less creaks and a little more rigidity in the frontal area, not some new found performance ability.
I mean if it had that much of effect in terms of side to side that would mean your car is flexing to an unsafe level in the first place.
lol dont listen to every dealer and every tech
i work at a gm dealership and they tell ppl a whole bunch of bs
try it for urself and maybe u will see
i put it on and noticed a diff not huge but well worth the 30 bucks
then when i put my coilovers the difference is night and day

Install the two brackets first, then use a floor jack on the engine crossmember jack point to get the wheels off the ground, tighten the bar outwards as tight as possible and lock it, then lower the car obviously.

Ive seen alot of you guys say unless you drag you dont really need it, how can this help you in a 1/4 mile shot? It looks to me that this helps make the car stiff for agility purposes in cornering, what does it do for straight-a-ways?

Thanks Apparition, I forgot most of you guys are boosted and any car going that fast needs to be fastened down much more than dd non boosted cars, but I'll be getting it cause I drive like a maniac taking corners like a NASCAR doin 200. (Sometimes)...

Good luck.
Who you tellin'....I used to own a 86 Z28 growing up in Brooklyn NY, and street racing on those streets wreak haaaavoc on your car. You name the part and it rattled, back then if they had a strut bar I would of got it....lol...those cars rattle.

for instance if you are driving and ou turn the steering wheel side to side you can feel the body roll pretty bad. with teh strut bar it eliminates some of the sloppiness and is more responsive to the turn.
its hard to explain for me as im not good with words.... but its like it helps the car do what it is supposed to already do.
