First time @ the track: 5th Gen Auto
.
Mods:
~Intake/Timing Advance/Hi-Flow Cat/Weight Reduction (spare tire, jack, back seat)/ and Drop Resistor (on last run only)
~17" Factory Rims on 225/50/17 Nexen3000 tires, lowered psi to 23
~Approx Weight (w/me in it): 3400lbs.
Went to the track with 4x4 Max, in Cincinnati, and like he described, the weather conditions were very humid, with temp at about 75-80 degrees; (although it was starting to cool down when we made our first runs around 6:30/7:00pm).
Being my first time at the track, I was a bit late lineing up each time, so I never really got a chance to brake torque, like i wanted. Also worth mentioning is I ran in lane 2 each time, which both 4x4 and I agreed, it seemed to be a bit slow/lopsided w/lots of rubber on the starting area.
1st Run: 16.332
2nd Run: 16.238
Final Run (w/Drop Resistor Mod): 16.122
*(I'll post the full slips when I get home)*
I only managed to get in 3 runs before I decided that I'd let my car go cool off a bit, and grab something to eat. Came back 20 minutes later, tried to start the car when all the sudden she wouldnt start..........It would crank over ever so slightly, almost catch fire, then die.........We were all like, uh wtf?.......
Started checking fuses, cable lines, and even tried to jump the battery, but it wouldnt take the charge......Cranked on it a few more times, battery runs completely dead w/jumper cables on it.....So then we assumed it may be the battery........Ran down to Autozone (about an hour to and from) and picked up a battery.....STill nothin!
By this time it was almost dark, and we had run out of daylight.......
Well, long story short, I ended up having to leave my car down at the track overnight (thankfully they let me keep behind the gates, in a secure area) and had to have it towed on a trailer all the way back to my house (AAA)
I get it back and do some by-pass testing to check the starter and surprise surprise.........She was dead!
Just my luck, finally get make my way down to the track and my friggin starter goes out. Took me about an hour to take out my intake, brackets, and remove a bunch of clips to finally get to the starter. Managed to get a socket-wrench on it and in about two minutes, the new starter was installed. Put everything back together and she fired right up.
To say the least, it was definitely an interesting day at the track. I guess it only get better from here, eh?

Also, my times seem to be very slow for the setup I ran with....
While changin out the starter, I went ahead and took the TB completely off and cleaned it up real nice w/TB cleaner and a tooth brush.....(on a good note: the intake manifold was clean as a whistle!!).
I then started trying to take off the VIAS, so I could check it out and then jb-weld the spring back in place (im 80% sure its out)........but, the PITA soft screws wouldnt budge.
Even with the TB off, I only managed to loosen ONE of the screws on the VIAS, and even with the #4 phillips, still managed to tear up two of the screws on the VIAS. Now I've read somewhere you can tell if the VIAS is working by checking to see if it is reaching its peak, at 6500 rpm (which it doesnt) (my cut off seems to fluctuate between 6k and 6200)
Does this hold true for Automatics, too?
Also, after reading a bit more today, Im thinking my Knock Sensor is out and could be the culprit to my slow responding RPM's. Seems like when I hit the gas at WOT, it just falls on its face and then 1-2 seconds of hesitation, then WOT kicks in from 2-3k rpm to 6K rpm (like normal.) The MAF was changed out last year, and it doesnt feel like that at all. Its just that 1-3 seconds of hestitation that has me thinking my Knock Sensor is also out (or possibly the VIAS, or both)

Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Well, I just threw a P0430 code (Bank 2, 02 sensor & precat) today and am planning on fixing the VIAS this weekend.....
So hopefully that brings my times down all around, to say, 15.4-15.6 range.......(where I thought I should be)
Should help the 60' times, as well.
Quick question to anyone reading:
I've read many orger's using NGK o2 sensors over bosch......Is there any difference between a bosch o2 sensor and NGK o2 sensor, and if so, what?
Ty in adv. for your time.
