I like the first design better but they are both going to be loud.

Both will probably have fitment issues, along with being loud and obnoxious.

And both of those mufflers have 2.5" inlets, so you'll need 2.5" piping.

I dont mind the loud part, i can deal with that if not i can just get a silencer, but im wondering which one you guys think is better for the max???? And by the looks of it it looks the the second link "vibrant muffler" is better since its more expensive.

I dont think you should base your decision on price, theres a member who purchased this item http://www.cardomain.com/item/DYX17747 and seems to be happy, I've checked it out but am holding out for a deal Ive been working on.

if you are looking to just make your maxima sound like it is worked on go with a universal muffler like you are looking at
if you are looking to make the car raspy and loud at high rpm go with either one of those
i personally would have to suggest to purchase a catback that way you get the full benefit of the exhaust
now if you are looking to keep the "rasp" or so you say "it dosent bother you" than purchase a pasesetter or ssautochrome something like that (i believe that is what the companys on e bay are called)
but for the best performance and sound which will b mellow and non raspy the only tuned exhaust for the maxima "Cattman" is the way to go for performance as well as sound
it carries a very low note while accelerating as well as adds probibly the most HP/torque

this is just my opinion if you would feel comfortable driving past the little old lady and making her turn down her hearing aid than by all means go with the muffler, but from a tuning perspective, and not a "race to the finish" on who can put more mods on there car, take the time and save up for those parts that will make your vehicle stand out and make others really look twice at you when you go by!!!!

Why dont you buy a regular cat back exhaust or just the muffler Cattman sells there exhaust in full exhaust or separate pieces so if you wanted you can buy the muffler and make a custom cat back. or like i said before you buy the full exhaust with the Y-Pipe. you cant go wrong with Cattman i would buy a muffler off ebay unless it was like Greddy,Cattman, universal mufflers are rice if you ask me.

Universal does not = rice. Technically my Borla muffler is "universal" but it is most definitely not rice. I personally think it sounds better than any of the pre-constructed cat-backs offered for the Maxima that I've heard thus far.

Ebay mufflers are ok it justs all depends on what type. I had this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/N1-4-...WDVWQQtcZphoto
on my crashed max with a high flow cat from ebay and it sounded so nice not loud either with no buzzing sound. With my j30 i had staright pipe unitil mufflers but the problem was or so i think was that the rear mufflers were too restrictive because it sounded bad buzzing sound like crazy. I would go the ebay route and don't worry about the loudness. I really like that muffler with the carbon fiber on it justs sounds sooo sweet. right now on my next 95 max i took the rear muffler off and just put straight pipe with a wall mart tip on and you would be surprised how good it sounds.

I got a borla muffler on my max right now, but it just doesnt have enough growl from me, but that maybe because i had a really loud exhaust before that. I do agree with the "non rice" part for borla mufflers, i think the borla muffler awesome but im just looking for something with more growl.

Plain and simple you aren't going to get it with a Maxima. It's a DOHC 3.0L V6, not an OHV V8. The best my exhaust has ever sounded was an open y-pipe, and even that sounded like total garbage during deceleration (but sounded absolutely INSANE at idle and during accel./cruising).

I think i've decided, im not going for any cheap ebay muffler, just doesnt seem worth it. I'll just save up and go with something more reputable like cattman.

Thanks for all the input guys, appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought a Borla univ. fit muffler off an ebay vendor, great price ($89 shipped for a ProXS) and a quality muffler. I'm not quite sure how they can sell it at 40% of Summit Racing's price, though...
