Highway Partol 1: Me 0 (Damn U Procrastination)
I got 2 ticket about a month ago for tint and expired tag and registration, and court is today 07/13/07 @1400. All of which I know I can beat as long as I go to court with items corrected. So here's the dilema, I go to the shop to get inspection but 3 systems come up not ready. No biggie, I ride around for awhile to try and charge the system, but still shows 'sys not ready'. Okay I can live with this, its been about 6-7 years since I got a new battery, and have been wanting a red top for the sound system anyway. I go a get a battery. Go back yesterday, still same problem. So the shop owner and I kinda go through the systems affected to try to find a problem. Nothing. fuses, grounding etc... OK. So he tells me go to the Highway Dept and get a waiver. A lil miffed but fine. I call this morning and the officer says he has to leave the office at 10am, so i get there 15 min till 10am he looks over the car askes for registration and the 3 previous inspections, everythings ok. he looks at the car looks at me, looks at the car and back at me, "Sir this is not the registration to this car!!" I forgot that I did a black leather interior swap, so I explain the situation, he tells me to follow him inside. We go inside and he has a conference with his boss and they both come over and explain to me that the VIN # does not match up and for the car to be registered I have to submit the old Vin#, new VIN#, and title+fees. NOW I"M PISSED. Bottom line I got to the bank, get $270 in two moneyorders and pay the damn fines. I have never, I repeat NEVER have had to pay any traffic citations, and have had quite a few. To add injury to insult while in process of going to the bank I get pulled again for expired tag. I got out of that one because I showed him the other citation, but I swear they are f*!kin' wit me.

Oh and the tint is legal, however has 'reflective attributes'. But because could not get the inspection and the shop would have passed it, well you figure the rest.
So he saw that the vin plate on the dash didnt match up? At that point, why did you not show him one of the other 10 or so vin plates on the car?
Also, why did you think replacing the battery would make your systems come on? The only way to get rid of those "not ready" errors is to drive like 300 miles.

2. Because technically there is no error, but the system is not able to do a 'complete' sys check. And 300 miles is a little much usually a 15-20 min drive is sufficient. I have had similar problems like this before, in another Max and that was the fix.
so you did and interior swap but forgot to change out the tiny lil VN plate that takes no more that 10 seconds to do? Now you're pissed? Are you pissed that you're retarded for not swapping the plate or that you're retarded cause you forgot you didn't swap it?
Damn, that sucks.. I know how NC laws are...... I happen to pay a speeding ticket 2weeks ago. also, had to get my car inspected and i had 5% tint. So a couple friends referred me to a NIce Inspection station..
and all that is done.. and my tint ticket is droped, but still rockin the tint...
But good to see a QC member here!!

Wow that sucks. By the way, "system not ready" is referring to the trip cycle for that particular system, you must have recently disconnected the battery long enough that the keep-alive memory capacitors in the computers finally went dead, a DIY way to reset the MIL. Read up on what a "drive cycle" and "trip cycle" encompass in OBD2, then perform the specific trip cycle procedure for the system(s) that has not yet self-tested, then you're ready for inspection.
