Hey all i have a 96 maxima with a spoiler. The trunk appears to have some give to it, by this i mean if u pull the trunk it will rise a couple of centemeters so it is not flush. What happens is when i am driving and i hit a bump or somethign i can hear the trunk and spoiler slam against the car. Any one know what i can do to fix this???

 

Sounds like a trunk lock issue to me.But how hard could it be slamming,or does it just sound like the trunk isnt locked tight/properly.?

 

Well the trunk is lock.. it will not open.. but if u pull the spoiler while it is closes u can feel the trunk have some give... and when i am driving it makes it sound like it is slamming and the spoiler is banging on the car...

 

this is why i did'nt get a spoiler, too much weight on the trunk lid. loosens the latch and doe'nt open as well either. you"ve got to get the dealer to tighten the lock for you, same thing happened to another orger awhile back.

 

no way i can tighten the lock the myself.. it dealer is going to make me buy a new lock and all.. this sucks!!!

 

Go to ur friend...junkyard, the lock is only like 3 bolts

 

i dont think its ur trunk slamming, if u say it locks
and u cannot open it then its not the trunk...

look to see if ur jack (inside the trunk on the right - passenger side - has come loose and is banging around on bumps) thats my best bet

 

Are those three lock bolts loose?
I used to have those three loose and it made noise(of course).
