Rust in rear wheel well = Useless seatbelt
Rust in rear wheel well = Useless seatbelt
Hi,
My niece was having some trouble getting the seatbelt to come down in the rear driver's side seat one night, it took a bit of tugging to get it to release and pull out from the seat. The next day I open the trunk and pull off the cover of the seatbelt mechanism located in there, to see what the problem might be and I see this:

In case the pictures aren't clear, there's a rust hole in the driver's side rear wheel well which I can clearly see the wheel/street and the seatbelt mechanism which should be attached to said wheel well, is dangling to the right of it.
I was pissed to realize that my niece was riding with a useless seat belt but I remember reading somewhere on these forums about a rust/recall problem and i was wondering if anyone here could let me know if this falls into that bucket and what I should do/call to get this fixed.
Thanks

there was a rust recall but the problem is that the recall probably expired by now. if and only if nissan would honor the warranty they would probably total out your car and give you pennies to the dollar in exchange. the car appears to be wayyy too far gone to get any repairs done (properly at least). of course if you really love the car and want to keep it then time to order some parts and do some cutting and welding.
