95 SE, A/C intermittent between cold and not cold

It's hot here and my 95 SE is putting in extra A/C duty lately. With it running on A/C on 3 or 4 (fan speed) it will intermittently (a couple of times every trip) stop blowing cold air, as if the A/C button was pressed, and then a few minutes later kick back on and blow cold again.

I hooked it up to the gauges and the pressure was good on full A/C (about 220 and 35).

Any ideas at all?

It has about 256000 miles right now, so maybe it's just time again for an A/C flush and refill? Only other thing I could think of is a solenoid isn't working right or something electrical that's causing it to turn off the A/C and then kick it back on.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

sounds like a compressor problem. have it diagnosed at a facility that is certified to work on A/C and have them look at it.

Have you made sure both of the cooling fans come on under the hood. If your fan is bad it will cause the pressure to get too high and it will kick off through the high pressure switch.

It sounds like it could be a problem with the AC fan relay (or fan itself) if it gets hot when sitting still or moving slowly, that would be my best bet.
