Stainless Steel Brake Line Questions

Today all my stuff showed up from the GD on brakes, pads, and rotors. This is my first time doing lines and rotors (done pads before). Do I just disconnect the line, put the new one on, and then bleed the brakes? Are there any other things I should know before installing the rotors?

Nothing special, just like you anticipated. What brake fluid did you buy?

For future reference, consider ATE's Super Blue and or ATE's TYP 200.

Super Blue is blue and TYP 200 is amber making fluid flush points very obvious (vs. colorless for your run of the mill fluids) AND are great DOT4 (Official)/DOT5 compliant fluids with 500+F dry boiling points.

OH! Don't get any of the brake fluid on painted surfaces. Brake Fluid eats away paint.

AND go bed your pads once you've gotten them installed!

Good luck!

A dozen nice easy controlled stops from about 30mph in an empty parking lot. Or as per manufacturers instructions that are included with the pad.

I wouldn't stop completely though. That's part of what makes bedding different than normal stopping.

#1 Make 6-10 slow-downs from approximately 30-35 mph to 5 mph. applying moderate pressure. Do not come to a complete stop and ensure you take 45 to 60 seconds between 'slow-downs'.

#2 Make an additional 3 to 5 harder stops from approximately 40-45 mph. to zero. Once stopped, start driving again immediately to repeat but take 60 seconds between stops.

#3 Once done, drive the car for another 5-10 minutes to allow brakes to cool. Do not set the parking brake when you park (if possible)

They will dribble out (not forcefully) but they will certainly leak out.

Yeah not fully they will bleed a bit... but for sure will leak out if you leave them off for a while..... Easy process... you shoulnt make much of a mess... just the fluid that is clost to the end of the lines and in the line....

The manual says I need a clear tube to hook up to the bleeder valve. Anyone have any suggested size I could run out and get at home depot or autozone?
