You basically just have to rip it outta there, a lot of them get stuck, but if you keep twisting and pulling it will eventually come off. Then just seat the new one and pop the hoses on.

It WILL come off if you keep messing with it.

Try using a flathead screwdriver, pull on it hard and swear a lot; it won't hurt anything if you do have to cut a bit of the fuel line off.

twist it..don't just pull it.
if the hose is in bad shape then it's a good time to change it.

make sure you have relieved the pressure first.

Couple of ideas. First do the fuel pressure relief regimen (pull fuse, start several times till it stalls) then wait until the next day when the car is stone cold. This seems to be less likely to spray fuel out when you do get the hose off.
Second, push the hose on further and twist to try and break it loose. Then twist it off. ( You want to cause the tube to widen by pushing, rather than neck it down by pulling)
Also, I've seen a fuel hose spreader at Sears that looks like spreading pliers that have a round section at the tip that fits into the tube end and spreads it. I've wanted to try this tool for a while and haven't had a chance.

Ok so apparentley the hoses do just "come off" but im not puttin enough force into it. Well heres the deal. the car wont start. its been sitting under a carport covered for almost a year. it ran when i put it under there now it wont start. i put new gas in with octane boost and injector cleaner. I can get it to start with ether but it wont stay running once that burns off. So i figured the filter was clogged or somthing. so its kind of tough to let the pressure out if I cant get it started. any other suggestions? And is gas gonna come shooting out with alot of pressure behind it when I finally get that off of there?

best way to remove hose is to use channelocks (spelling?) and twist the hose with them GENTLY, after hose is loosened up just use your hands to do the rest. If you dont relieve pressure, I would suggest closing your eyes and mouth

If the car's not starting you probably don't HAVE any fuel pressure. Take the hose off while wrapping it in a paper towel or rag. Then leave this fuel soaked rag out where it won't cause problems if it catches fire.

Easy enough to check. Put a pressure gauge on the fuel hose running into the filter and see if it gets up to pressure when you turn the key to on ( say 45 psi). Alternatively you could pull this input hose and put it in a bucket and have someone turn the key, but this is dangerous. Have an extiguisher close and DON'T smoke while doing this. Then pour the gas into your lawn mower or such. The fuel should run out like a fire hose (excuse the comparison).
