Transmission wont shift outta car after rebuild
Transmission wont shift outta car after rebuild
I had fixed the problem with my 92 max manual transmission, DOHC (the main input shaft bearing needed replaced) and i put it back together the way the factory manual said to. There were no extra parts left over. But i did have to buy a 10 pack of the little ball bearings that you put in the tranmission casing last. Just needed two of them. The transmission is still out of the car but my brother says it wont shift. Does it need to be in the car to shift or shoudl he beable to pull it out of gear and shift it when its out of the car by hand? If so, does anyone know what the problem might be?
I dont think the transmission place wants to work on this transmission. They told me "just get a used one from a junkyard" when i took it there for the bearing.
Any help would be great. Thanks

With the case still split open it is not easy to shift, but it is possible. Due to the lack of fluid I recall it being very hard to shift with the case put back together and the tranny still out of the car.
If you put everything back together right then it should be just fine when you mount it and fill it with fluid. The leverage of the stick and linkage help.
