Radar detectors and bridges

It seems as though my Escort 8500 X50 picks up an "X" band under a few specific bridges throughout the city? Anybody know anything about this?

Thanks

I know many large bridges around the Baltimore area have radar installed to monitor traffic speed.

X band and few KA bands are used in bank security systems. OLDER automatic doors to wallmart kmart and stores like that. and other alarm systems. also X band is put off by OLDER radar detectors. KA band is the newest radar then lazer.

Can it be the tolls before or after the bridge?

thats possible. because they may use a type of radar to activate the sensors for speed pass or something along those lines.

Other than my previous suggestion, I would say that if the same signal is there every time, it may be a traffic monitoring system, or as a last resort I would say that your system isn't functioning properly.

Take a friends unit of the same model and set with the same settings to the same place and see if the other unit acts similar and you'll have your answer.

I haven't noticed it yet in Charlotte, but it could be some type of traffic control or monitoring system. I know other states (PA for example) mount x-band guns on their flashing construction signs. Which bridges? I'll try a drive by myself and see if my POS detector goes off.

out here is so cal some cities have an K-band radar gun mounted on a light pole or a little trailer parked on the side of the road with a digital display lit up that says "YOUR SPEED __" and posted speed. It flashes real fast when going over the speed limit I turned my X-Band off here since most police departments don't use X-Band anymore.

some of those signs have cameras in the back of them. and they take a picture of the license plate and the police mail the tickets to your house. FYI (thanks to police internship)
