acceleration problem

okay when the car is under light load, throttle pressed 1/3 of the way, the car accelerates oddly. it seems as if it will accelerate with a very slight pause between each 1/2 second. you can feel the car stop accelerating, and then accelerate again. this is a very very brief stop of acceleration, but it is enough to feel it. We replaced the fuel pump with a walboro one and at idle it sounds like it sucks fuel then stops then sucks fuel again. Is this a fuel pump problem? Or am I looking at something worse? The fuel pump is fairly new, purchased about a month and half ago. At full throttle, the car will not have the odd accelerating problem, rather it will go to redline and shift like it should. Can someone help me out? Thanks.

First things first. I would check for any trouble codes. Even if your CEL isnt on.
Not saying you are having this problem but my knock sensor went bad and did the same thing you are describing. I started to do all this stuff like changing plugs, fuel filter, cleaning air filter, throttle body and THEN checked codes. 0304 Knock Sensor came up, changed it yesterday, car runs like new. My lesson was that I should have checked for codes first and formost. It didnt dawn on me because the was no check engine light.

we already replaced the knock sensor with OEM one. the code popped up a couple months ago, we replaced it, and the knock sensor sure enough was cracked. ( dont ask me how, it just was lol ). we checked for codes after we replaced the knock sensor and o2 sensor and nothing. i will check for codes again tonight/tommorow. so your car started to do the same odd accelerating thing as mine? Thanks.

Yup. I had the same symptoms. It could be alot of different things, though. Check for any codes first and then if nothing comes up, start running down the list of possible causes: Air filter, TB, plugs, ect...
Good excuse to handle some regular maintenance things too, if you need any.

I'm having the exact same problem I didn't really know how to describe it you did a good job putting it into words. It only seems to do it when the car hasn't been running long then it stops later on. I do have a knock sensor code i never thought that could be it. I have the part and i was going to change it tomorrow ill post if it solves the problem but Ive researched and found it could be the MAF sensor

Well I put the knock sensor in reset the ECU drove it noticed it didn't fix the problem and it only had a little more power disappointing from what people say a new knock sensor will do. Well I got back checked the code and it was still there and i was pissed. So i pop the hood and notice the sensor wasn't connected. Reset the ECU and took it for another drive BIG difference in power i went from not being able to curp my tires with my old clutch to almost spining them when i shift. As for the acceleration problem it was gone from what I could tell. I'll drive it to work tomorrow to make sure it's gone ill post back if it comes back.
