help hurry cant read codes

my car has been running bad for the past bit. it seems to run worse over longer trips but sometimes it just does it at random. it cuts power like the maf code does and it did throw that code befor. i cleared the code then because the wire was grounded out. i fixewd the wire then reset ecu with a reader. now it is still runing bad and a code reader wont work. it reads error or conection problem like its not even plugged in. i also tried the manual code check and the check engine light would never blink the codes. the cel isnt on and ive tried resetting via unpliugging the battery but still nothing. why cant i check/clear my codes guys?

Maybe you grounded the wrong wire? RE TRY the ecu screw method, it is quite easy IMO.
