Hood Risers

I was just flipping through the September Modified magazine and came across a Miata with hood risers. Just wondering if anyone ever tried that out here and if there's any benefit to us. I did a search but no postings.

You can do that with couple washers and if necessary, longer bolt. Yes I've done it, but not to my Max. Don't know if it really did anything or not.

I've read that its supposed to help excavate hot air out of the engine compartment. I've also read at another site that there is low air pressure at the base of the windshield and that would prevent hot air from escaping out so I dunno if its good or not.

Here's a snap of the Nismo Z-Tune Skyline's A pillar:

Not quite the same as raising the hood but a similar idea.

That's the same principle cowl hoods are based on, air being basically forced into the back of the cowl because it's at the base of the windshield. If you have it raised up with washers or such though, it'll still vent. Even if it didn't, you'd be forcing cooler air into the engine bay anyway.

i assume its simliar to driving only when the sunroof vented.. it does kinda create a vac-line pressure not a lot but noticeable thru cabin. so it should work but not what most people will expect.

Had the vented hood for a few days, annoyed me. I think if I was running boost I would have it vented a small amount.

As mentioned I used washers after reading stuff on Zilvia.net.
