Which alternator do I need 110 or 100 amp...I need a new one and the parts stores have both.

Nissan say "I only have one part number and its the right one so what does it matter?" They are obviously no help and 50% more expensive than a parts store.

If some's good, more's better!

Get the 110 model if available, shouldn't really make a difference.

the 110 amp model only has 2 wires, the stock alternator has 3.... its not a big issue since the extra wire is just a backup power wire going to a different fuse... make sure when you install it or get it installed that the extra constact from the harness isnt gangling around shorting out somewhere

Just where is the third wire located on this alternator?

I've never seen a Max with more than two, are you referring to the small wires in the push connector or something else?

i just got my alternator changed and my system was shorting out so I had this exact issue.... look at a haynes manual schematic for charging system on 2000 and you will see there are 3 wires going to the alternator harness...

So does this mean the stock one is a 100amp?? Id rather go that route..cheaper. I think the 110 amp has an internal regulator. Is that the extra wire??

the maxima uses a 100amp from the factory the I30 uses the 110amp.... they will work in your car.... fyi, the 110 amp cheaper at autozone than the 100 amp is at NAPA

I saw that somewhere online when I was looking at pricing. From what I read the -- is what the 2000 supposedly has.

I just went to look at the car and it appears there is one plug with two wires plugging into the top of the alternator. There is another thing that appears to be bolted on right next to the wire plug. It has a cover a lot like a spark plug wire.

Anyone have any comments? Thats not the third wire in question is it??

The car requires a 110 amp.

Give the guy at the parts store the OEM part # and tell them to do a oem to their brand search.
