If not faulty ECU...what could it be?

So here the short story, had O2 sensor codes, evap codes and an egr code, along with a KS code.

Other threads suggested cleaning the plugged EGR tube, so I cleaned it with TB cleaner, put everything back together.

With normal scan tools from Advance auto, could read codes, but was also getting a PRD12 transmission code even though I have manual. I could not clear the codes with the scanner at Advance. So, I had someone at a shop clear the codes out with his PA state emisions computer. I came back at ~80miles of driving, I got a "not ready" reading. So since then I've driven more than 900 miles, no CEL.

However, I just checked in with the mechanic I had clear the codes, he says the KS code is back, but EVERYTHING else is reading "not ready"....he now tells me I can bring it to another shop spend $150 in parts trying to fix it, then get an inspection waiver.

Anyone have any idea what the hell is going on here? I feel like most of these shops know less than I do, so my last ditch effort might be to bring it to the stealership.....although I really, really don't want to.

Oh man, that's sounds similar to problems I have with my car, except my problems are caused by an engine swap and an ECU out of a 98 Max which conflicts with the 96 I30 EVAP system stuff. Your situation sounds no less complex, and it's very odd that it reads the KS code but says the rest are 'not ready'. I would probably just pay the $150 to get the waiver.....

So do you have an auto ECU or manual ECU? Was your car converted? Have you checked the TSB for the EGI harness?

Well, now this inhibitor switch code (1101) might make some sense....sort of....because now my reverse lights do not work....

or at least I didn't notice until recently because I had to pull most of the tint off my car.

I think my ECU is somehow messed up though, because I still do not have a check engine light, it's been like 2000 miles, probably more.

my gas mileage is still good and the car runs fine however....despite the O2 sensor codes.
