Where can I find my VIN #'s?

I moved to Arizona and need to register my car. I just went to the DMV to get a level 1 inspection and they need to see two spots where the VIN's are. The one on the door is visible but the one on the windshield is not visible at all, is there another spot i can point out to him so I can save the $20 I would have to spend to go somewhere to get a level 2 inspection?

I believe there is one inside the engine bay. But why is the one in the windshield obstructed??? Maybe you can see it with the hood open.

I just checked to see if opening the hood works and it doesnt. Tell me if I am looking in the right place. On the windshield, where the little box should be for the VIN, there is no VIN there. For some reason the guy was saying he could see the plate but that the gray windshield foam thing was possibly melted onto it. Teh foam thing is the dark gray strip that is the cushion between the windshield and the dashboard. I try to push it down to see if I could see anything and I can't. I am a bit confused as to where to look and why I can't find a VIN there. I need help on this one.

It's on a plate on the firewall, and also stamped on the firewall in the upper center. That inspector is not very smart is he?

werdna58 - Don't move to Georgia. Law Enforcement here is really strict on having the VIN correctly visible at the base of the windshield. When a vehicle is parked and locked, that is the only place they have access to it.

Of course Georgia has one advantage over many states in that no front tag is issued; that makes the front of our Maximas look much cleaner.

Add South Carolina to that list.

Take it to a Nissan dealership and ask them for your vin!!!!

(That of course is when all else fails).

He knows the VIN because they found one on the door, but the inspection requires two visible places...

easiest place to find the vin number is to check under the rear left tire.
