I installed my Stillen Intake this weekend. I love the sound. But, it whistles a bit right when I get on it or when driving at certain rpm. no big deal but I'm not sure if it is supposed to make that noise or if I have an installation problem - i.e an air leak. It could be that the maf is not seated to the metal cone since I sort of stripped one of the bolts. Actually, the bolt was seated properly and I barely torqued it and it just spun. I think the stillen piece may not have been properly machined. In any event, the bolt still holds.

Also, anyone figure out what the hell the tie thing was for?

It's normal... your car is sucking up the air and making the swirly noise. IMO it sounds pretty nice.

Whistle

My 2K Maxima also whistles and I have the JWT Pop Charger, basically just tliek the Stillen but much cheaper. Now, my 2K C-Cab doesn't with the JTW Pop Charger. The C-Cab actually sounds like a big 4 barrel carb kicking in when stepping on it.

when u take the MAF off, there's a rubber seal under it, the Stillen instructions tell U not to loose that rubber gasket and also tells U to make sure its seated properly. No wistle from y car so I wonder if U guys got that rubber seal seated properly? don't know what the tie wrap is for, maybe to tie the sensors to the body b/c I took all the plumbing out and my sensor was just hanging in the wind.

Stock 2K SE and I hear whistle...

When I gun the car...I can hear a whistle...its reminds me of the days when you could put your radio on a blank AM radio station and hear the static "whistle" when you gunned the car...

my SE does whistle though and I haven;t done anything to it yet...

I also just had my stillen intake installed in my 2000 max mine whistles a bit too and I had it professionally installed so I don't think we have any reason to worry. I think the zip tie is to tie back the gromet onto the bracket where the old airbox used to be. not a big deal if you leave it out it's just so the wires don't rattle around inside the engine compartment. I am looking to make some upgrades to my maxima if you have any feedback on your expiriences with products I would appreciate it.
