Microfilter
30 min deal at most.
Hard? no. Scary? yeah, alittle if you haven't dug into the dash yet. There are instructions in the kit. You have to drop the glove box (no way around it). And there is an ABS connector that you have to tiptoe around, and there didnt seem much of chance of disconnecting it. Putting the glove box/lower dash back in is tricky because its just an awkwark piece of plastic, but very little chance of harming anything.
It was pretty easy really.

Just ordered a new 2001 SE AE majestic blue. Will be returning my 98 SE.Had dealer throw in the microfilter. He mentionned that it needs to be replaced every 4 years. Just wondering if there is any truth to that? How will I now if they really install it? (not that I doubt it, but curious)
the dealer disconnected my glovebox light when my microfilter got installed.
need to pick up the new plates so i might as well get them to fix the light as well.
The sticker they put in the glove box regarding the microfilter says it needs to be replaced next year.

its not stock on any 2K's
that I know of. it was listed as an option. I heard a rumor that some brochures where misprinted without 'optional' so Nissan sent a bunch to dealers to CYA (or is that CTA). Again, prolly another far fetched dealer story. My PF was supposed to have it too, it didnt. I bought them both a few months back. I generally drive with the sunroof open, totally negating anything the filter could do for me.
yes, I will agree its very easy...
but dropping that dash piece is kinda traumatic on your brand new car (I had run the OEM CD changer, so I had a high confidence level going into it). There's also some uncomfortable tugging if you dont realize the right side corner comes back, then down to release.
