My maxima will not start. When the key is in ignition and turned to start the engine, all light indicators in the instrument panel light up but all I get is a rapid clicking noise from the engine compartment. The in-dash clock still displays the correct time. The radio turns on - but no sound. Interior and exterior lights work. The remote control alarm works. I even tried to jump-start the car. That did not help at all. I called a Nissan/import car mechanic who said he’d charge me $60 to come to my house to see what might be the problem. Who knows what he'll charge me if he needs to work on it? Has anyone out there had a problem similar to mines?

Did you check all of your fuses?...

 

If you hear a clicking sound, then its the Starter. Do you have a 5spd? If so you can still push start the car, if not you might have to get it towed to the dealer. When I changed mine on my 95, it was almost $400
