better grip on a '00gle

How can I get better grip from the stock 16in rim/tire setup. I can step on the gas and burn out and around turns the front pulls out. (I'm used to understeer) now besides telling me to drive slower (I really don't drive that fast. honest) how else can I get better drip?

Can get slightly wider tires like maybe a 235/45/17 or 245/40/17. Plus get racing style tires have excellent grip such as Pirelli P Zero or the Michelin Pilots. But that is expensive and the more sticky the tires are the less the treadwear is which leads to burned out tires very quickly.

You could probably burnout a set a pirelli's in about 1yr with the way you describe it.

actually I don't drive like a maniac, but when you step on the gas, weight transfers back and its really easy to chip the tires. and going around turns, it looses grip kinda easy

You could adjust tire pressure by lowering it, but then you could end up with an Explorer/Firestone situation.

if you want to get rid of some of that understeer, an RSB would be good.

RSB? by adding that to my rear will cause more of a understeer (rear swings out before the front?)

that would be adding oversteer. You will get more neutral handling with the RSB

Right, I had that backwards. So what youre saying is I would still loose grip at about the same speed as without the RSB, but instead of the front sliding outward first, the whole car tends to slide?

Probably at a slightly higher speed. The RSB keeps the car flatter. Consequently, the outside front wheel camber doesn't go quite as badly positive and the inside front not as much negative, so front wheel grip goes up.

Fine-tune the feel by playing with tire pressures. For handling, you typically want a little more air in the front tires than in the rear ones. Without a RSB, maybe 5 or 6 more psi up front than in back. When you add a RSB, you'll probably need to add some air to the rear tires to keep it from feeling "loose", so they'll be maybe only 3 or 4 psi less than the fronts.

may i recommend just the basic? new tires...these are similar to the s2000 tires if not better. from what i hear these tires have better reviews, because of better treadwear.Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position.
or your can try a cheaper tire that gives probally equally the same or better... Kumho Ecstas 712s.
