I just came back from racing this civic.... no problem... his was lowered 2" drop..exhaust not much else... EAZY prey right?.... right... until we went on the free way... my max handled pretty good I thought... then at 50 mph on the onramp is I let up on the throtle.. my max would start to loose control and sway from one side to the other..... FU**EN Shocks!!!!!! THEY SUCK.... THEY SUCK... while I made a fool out of myself... the civic hauled *** on the onramp... just like I used to with my Honda... with koni's ... Man I miss my Honda... but then we got on the freeway and I cought up to him... and my max reedemed itself.. well... almost... I need those Fu--ing shocks..

Nothing is wrong with the car, you just made a critical mistake

when you are going around a corner or an offramp it is critial in keeping your throttle as stable as possible.

When you went into the corner and let off the throttle you upset the balance that your car had going into it. When you lifted the throttle you made the car unstable and you would have probably made the rear end kick out.

If you went into the corner too hot and lifted the throttle to keep from understeer (pushing) then that was also a problem.

If you enter the corner at just the right speed, you should be able to keep that speed the whole way through. You would be able to find this out through previous practice of that corner at various speeds to find the best way to execute it with your current setup.

Same Here

You just have to hit the turn at the right speed and maintain that speed throughout. Letting up on the throttle will throw you off balance. In fact, giving it a little bit of gas throughout the turn may help you out also. It all takes a bit of practice and knowing the turn.

Don't let up on throttle...just depress slightly

Remember you have a front wheel drive vehicle...you need the throttle to "pull" yourself through the turn. And true...when you let go of the throtlle in a turn the car will lose its balance and then you are forced to slow down much more than you would if you "eased up" on throttle. The civic of course will have an advantage in a turn no matter what...shorter wheel base, lighter car...but you'd be surprised at what good driving technique can make up for in disadvantages like that.

I know all that........ trust me I am pretty good.

"Happiness is not around the corner.... happiness IS the corner"...

What I was talking about was the swaying of my max from one side to another... I was following the civic on a one lane entrance to the onramp... when he started to rev his car.. and ofcorse I heard it, he had one of those "mosquito" mufflers.. and started to give it gas and stop... gas and stop... he pissed me off.. so I gave chase.... there was no way for me to pass him, since it was a one lane on ramp... he sped off and I chased... the ****er slowed down..and I was not going to get to close... no way I will crash my max.. so I let up on the throtle to slow down...and avoid hitting him... that's when I lost some control... and in my ex-honda, I would've recovered in a second... but the max just started to sway from one side to the other.... IT NEEDS Konis... where are my konis?.... I got F & R strut bar, Stillen Sway bar, Eibach shocks, Z-rated 18" Dunlops... those got to go too... I'm switching back to My Pirellis....
Yeah.. the max will do great at a steady sweep in a corner.. but if you have to avoid a car in front or a bump then it just pisses you off.... and I don't care how great of a driver you are if you don't have your car dialed in properly with the right stuff... there is no way you can chase a civic or a integra around a turn... let a lone a rough turn with obstacles....

Well, first - it doesn't sound like you were beaten on the ramp if you had to slow down to avoid hitting him. Put him in the back and slam on the brakes and see if ricecakes doesn't rearend you or put it in a wall. Second, it doesn't matter how much control you have on-throttle, when you let off suddently, you are inducing oversteer. Being a good driver is what allowed you to control the car. But as far as handling - what do you expect. It is a big car, it is not a civic and it is not an integra. It's a bigger car. When it starts to step out - it is harder to control.

To say that anyone in a maxima shouldn't race anyone around curves or onramps is going too far. Just know the limits of your car.

I was just pissed off... that's all.. I will feel a lot better once I get my Koni's on... I did Kill the civic once we got on the freeway.... I think he did that move on the onramp on purpose... because he knew that I would smoke him on the freeway... Peace!!!
